In parallel with strengthening its basin of AI research talents, Meta seems to expand its AI features oriented towards consumers. The company is under discussion to acquire a vocal cloning startup called Play AI, Bloomberg reportedciting anonymous sources.
The technology giant aims to buy startup technology and integrate part of its staff, according to the report.
Playing AI allows anyone cloning different types of voice that they can use for use cases powered by AI, such as customer service, according to its website. The startup raised 23.5 million dollars in total, and its investors include 500 startups, Kickred Ventures, Capital Race, 500 Global and Soma Capital, by Crunchbase.
Meta currently allows creators of its social platforms to build their own chatbots and has added video editing capacities to her Meta chatbot. The acquisition of a vocal startup would allow the company to cook audio features in its creative suite.
Meta and Play AI did not immediately return the requests for comments.
