Celebrities and business leaders who fear being “canceled” because of their words or acts will be able to take out insurance to deal with the consequences of a cultural warfolled by social media.
Politics is created by Samphire Risk, an independent subscription agency supported by the Lloyd’s London which offers products focused on the risk of crime, hostage and removal, with Borkowski Pr, a communication group crisis based in London.
The coverage provided by the insurance policy includes crisis management services specifically designed to protect individuals against the cultivation of cancellation and to mitigate the damage to the reputation caused by negative coverage in the media and networks social.
“Sharing or loving a tweet can drop the whole world about you,” said Mark Bortowski, a public relations veteran who wrote the terms of the policy with the risk partner of the Services, Reputan.
“There are a lot of anxious people. The Cancel button is the new guillotine [and] An error is your epitaph. It’s too easy to take a stand on things. . . without being reflected.
Social media can create almost instantaneous negative reactions when celebrities, leaders and sports stars are considered to have crossed often arbitrary limits, causing sustainable damage and financial costs.
“The social media turbo boosts any reaction and diffuses it worldwide in a few seconds,” said Borkowski. He added that “at a time when only one tweet can erase a whole life of credibility, think of …. . . Cancellation of Chrissy Teigen following refurbished messages – [this] is insurance against digital volatility.
There are insurance products against reputation crises, but Borkowski says that these “will fill the gap” in business policies by focusing on the personal protection of celebrities, managers, athletes and wealthy individuals, as well as by proposing preventive measures.
Policy includes research, analyzes, monitoring and training to prevent any reputation problems in advance, as well as a 24/7 telephone assistance line and 60 days of communication work To manage and respond to negative media and social networks.
“This includes the consequences of the cancellation of culture and cultural war, areas in which companies cannot or will not provide personal coverage,” said Borkowski.
Policy will also cover modern danger management such as disinformation and deepfakes, and will extend to associated risks such as extortion, blackmail and family problems.
Borkowski said that politics was not designed for people who had violated the law or who were guilty of reprehensible acts, but was intended for those who feared that their words or their actions be taken out of their context or with a Bad “turn”.
Borkowski also said that “robot farms” have emerged and quickly disseminates false information on people, deliberately to harm or divert the attention of an individual.
