A jet of passengers and a military helicopter collided near Reagan National Airport outside Washington on Wednesday, the Federal Aviation of the United States said.
The regional flight, operated by PSA Airlines for American Airlines, was from Wichita, Kansas. Bombardier CRJ700 and a Black Hawk Black Hawk helicopter of the US military collided while the jet approached the airport around 9 p.m.
The Washington Metropolitan Police Department said on X that “a multi-age research and rescue operation was underway in the Potomac river after a plane crash”.
American Airlines confirmed that a American Eagle flight had been involved and said that it “would provide information as it would become available”.
Bombardier did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
