Liam PayneRoger Nores’ friend has filed a defamation suit against the singer’s father, Geoff Payne.
He claimed his late friend’s father defamed him in the media in the weeks following Payne’s death, referring to the man’s claim that Nores was negligent in taking charge of the singer.
Roger Nores also said in the complaint that he “never agreed to be and was never the caretaker” of the late Liam Payne.

TMZ has obtained documents showing Payne’s friend Roger Nores filed a lawsuit against the singer’s father, Geoff.
In the lawsuit, Nores, who was with the late singer just hours before his death, accused his friend’s father of smearing his name after Payne’s death. He appeared to reference Geoff’s public claims that he was responsible for caring for Payne.
Nores also suggested that Geoff had made him a target of the Buenos Aires police by submitting an affidavit claiming that Nores had “full responsibility for Liam’s care during this final period.”
According to the 35-year-old, Geoff’s claims were false because he had “never agreed to be and was never Liam’s guardian”.

He went on to say that he shared a strong bond with the late singer and that they supported each other, but that was only because they were “dear friends” and not because of any paid arrangement.

Elsewhere in the lawsuit, Nores further declared his innocence of any involvement in Payne’s death, saying he never provided the singer with “any recreational drugs and never controlled any medications prescribed” by him.
He also mentioned that he spoke to the late singer’s father about his inability to “dedicate the same amount of time to supporting” the former One Direction star. This reported conversation took place via email between him and Geoff in August 2024, which Nores claims Geoff did not disclose to authorities.
Nores also said he urged Geoff to take immediate action to address Payne’s addiction issues.

When they spoke the following month, Nores allegedly urged Geoff to go to Payne’s residence in Wellington, Florida, to care for his son. However, despite insisting on Payne’s condition, he claimed Geoff never made the trip.

In his complaint, Nores claimed that Geoff “never planned a temporary or new bodyguard” for Payne after the late singer fired his “paid concierge” and bodyguard, Bledar Vata.
Not only did he blame Geoff, Nores also pointed out that people like Payne’s girlfriend had “unique ability, opportunity and superior knowledge of his activities and needs.”
He then asked the singer’s late father to retract his sworn statement to police.
“Geoff needs to retract his affidavit because he knows full well that I was neither Liam’s nurse nor caretaker,” Nores said. TMZ.
He added: “Liam, who I miss every day, was my dear friend and an independent, brilliant, respectful and free man who did what he wanted when he wanted.”
If the trial ends in his favor, Nores intends to give all the money awarded to him to his late friend’s son, Bear.

Argentinian authorities have charged Liam Payne’s friend

Nores is one of five suspects charged in the investigation into Payne’s death following the singer’s fatal fall from a hotel balcony.
He is charged with negligent homicide, linked to allegations he abandoned Payne despite knowing the One Direction star was not in the best condition when he left the hotel on the day of her death .
Although Nores has not yet been remanded in custody, he is prohibited from leaving Argentina until the case is concluded.

He also denied abandoning the late singer, adding that he left him in good health on the day he died.
“I never gave up on Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before it happened,” he said in a statement reported to the Daily Mail.
“There were more than 15 people in the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left. I could never have imagined something like this would happen.”
