Manchester United are looking to offload winger Antony in the January transfer window.
The Brazilian winger has endured a difficult time at the club since his big-money move from Ajax.
He was signed by former manager Erik ten Hag but he never managed to assert his authority at Old Trafford and show the consistency and quality that was expected of him.
Ruben Amorim is now looking to allow the player to leave the club this month and Liga club Real Betis have been linked with a move for him.
While Antony earned around £200,000 a week at the club, the La Liga side wanted Man United to pay the majority of his wages.
However, with United facing their own financial difficulties, they did not want such a deal.
The Red Devils are reluctant to pay the salary of a player who brings nothing to their team.
According to MarcaReal Betis have now made an improved offer for Antony and it is closer to what Man United demanded.
Talks have continued between the Premier League and La Liga in recent days and they are confident of reaching an agreement on the move.
The Brazilian would leave the club on loan this month if the two sides reach an agreement.
Although United would have liked to get rid of the player permanently and end Antony’s disastrous chapter at the club, they have only received a loan offer for the winger at the moment.
Antony was one of the biggest failures at Man United
The player has failed to replicate his Ajax form in the Premier League and the sooner Man United get rid of him the better for them.
He enjoys a high salary and his departure would save the club a lot of money.
Antony came on as a substitute at half-time against Southampton in United’s last game and his close-range miss summed up his career at the club.
