However, due to the ongoing fires in Los Angeles, many advertising professionals believe that staying on track with the proposed release date would be “insensitive” and “tone deaf”, with many adding that Netflix should delay its release.
“I think Netflix bosses are going to have to make some big decisions about whether they will air With Love, Meghan next week,” said Nick Ede, a British brand and culture expert.
“With the series being so focused on California life, Los Angeles and Montecito, offering a glimpse into an ambitious and inspiring life, I suspect it will be pulled from its current schedule and delayed for at least a few months,” a- he added.

Postponing Meghan Markle show could be a ‘positive step’

Ede further suggested that if Netflix postponed Meghan’s show, it would be a “positive move” for the royal and the streaming platform, after years of being constantly scrutinized and embroiled in bad press.
“A show like Meghan’s isn’t time sensitive, so that means it can air later,” the expert said. “We know how important community is to Meghan and Harry and the last thing they would want is a backlash due to the show airing when they are currently doing everything they can to support those who have needed at this time.”

Phil Dampier, the author of “Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan In Their Own Words,” also shared Ede’s sentiment, saying: “The timing of Meghan’s Netflix show could hardly be worse as hundreds of people lost their homes in the terrible fires.

“The last thing people are interested in is a show where friends are there eating canapes or arranging flowers while the city is in flames and people have lost everything,” Dampier told the outlet.
Dampier praised the couple for easing the pain of many victims so far, but shared that they “can’t really win” because some will say it’s a “PR move.”
He added that it would be “reasonable” for Netflix to “pull the series” and “bring it back in the summer” when things are better. However, Dampier noted that due to the extent of the damage suffered, this “will take years.”

Netflix unlikely to suspend streaming of the show

Dampier also suggested that Netflix “will probably want to continue the series, but Meghan would be wise to ask them to postpone it,” especially given her relationship with the streaming platform.
The royal author also noted that while Meghan isn’t to blame, he doesn’t see the show “being a success in today’s climate.”
Dampier believes the series is the “last roll of the dice” from the company’s perspective, and if it “doesn’t work out,” they would likely sever ties with the Montecito-based royal family.
“It looks so bad for her to move forward, and no one will look at her in Los Angeles,” he added.
According to the outlet, other royal experts and PR gurus have lent their voices on the matter, with Richard Fitzwilliams saying the show “must be postponed” or risks showing the Sussexes as being “out of touch”.
