Princess Kate Middleton could make her first appearance on the red carpet since finishing her chemotherapy.
Kate, 43, will attend the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) next month, according to the Daily Mail. The publication reported on Saturday (January 11) that the prestigious event would mark the red carpet return of the Princess of Wales, amid her cancer journey. The 2025 BAFTA Film Awards will take place on February 16 at the Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Center in London.

Kate’s possible return to the awards ceremony comes after she missed last year’s event. Prince William walked the BAFTA red carpet solo in February 2024, a month before Kate went public with her cancer diagnosis. (BAFTA is an arts charity and one of the royal family’s patrons. William has been president of BAFTA since 2010.)
In a March 2024 video, Kate said she was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer. The Princess of Wales has kept a low profile for most of the year, making only a few public appearances.
However, by September 2024, she had completed her treatment.
“I can’t tell you what a relief it is to finally be done with my chemotherapy treatment,” Kate said in a video at the time. “The last nine months have been incredibly difficult for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the unknown road.
The royal family member noted that her “road to healing and full recovery is long” but plans to make more public engagements.

“I hope Catherine does a little more next year,” he shared. “So we may have other trips planned.”
During the same interview, William admitted that 2024 had been the most “terrible” year of his life. (Apart from Kate, her father, King Charles IIIwas also diagnosed with cancer.)
“This has probably been the most difficult year of my life,” the Prince of Wales shared. “So trying to overcome everything else and keep everything on track has been very difficult.”
William said he was “proud” of his wife and his father but noted that the health crisis was “brutal” for the whole family.
