The iPhone 16th is not for me. If you are passionate about technology and an Apple fan, it’s probably not for you either. It is for the person who clings to an iPhone 8 Plus or to the iPhone X, ready to upgrade because their smartphone over seven years is not working too well these days. They want a new phone, and you just have to be an iPhone.
Part of my brain will not stop thinking if this upgrade almost once in a decade for these people would not be better served if Apple had included its pleasant equipment, such as Magsafe or the ultra-large chip for improved follow-up of aeroons. Even by lacking these features, the price of the iPhone 16th seems too high in view of the many excellent competing phones in this tranche. It also makes the iPhone range of the dwatering – it’s $ 170 more than the Apple iPhone SE which is no longer available.
I spent a large part of my time last week using the iPhone 16th and thinking about its $ 599 PDSF, which must naturally mean that something is wrong. This may not have much to people in the United States, who prefer purchases through carriers who subsidize the cost, although they always pay for a (locked) spread over a few years. But when the used iPhone market is healthy and prosperous, it seems that anyone planning an iPhone 16th will find better value with an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro.
Cell boost
The best iPhone 16th feature? Battery life. Since it is an iPhone of 6.1 inch, which historically performs the lowest battery tests, it is a welcome surprise. With an average use during last week, I had trouble getting the phone from 50%. (It generally oscillated about 51 or 49% by bedtime.) Yes, it means that the iPhone 16th has a better battery life than the iPhone 16.
A special day, when I used it for GPS navigation, music streaming and snapping images, it was left to around 30% before bedtime. And another busy day, I reached almost nine hours of screen time and I had 15% in the tank. It’s excellent. This is still not the best lifespan of the iPhone battery in the range – it would be the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the iPhone 16 Plus – but it is enough to maintain this battery anxiety remotely when you are on the go.
Apple claims that this battery boost is partly thanks to the very first C1 modem designed by Apple inside the phone. Apple has spent years building this connectivity chip to reduce its dependence on partners like Qualcomm, and it seems to have borne fruit. I have not encountered any problem with cell connectivity during last week with the AT & T Esim Apple, although it can also depend on the region. (I’m in New York.) I did speed tests via Ookla On various phones alongside the iPhone 16th and found nothing out of the ordinary. That said, remember antennagate? We will have to wait and see how Modem C1 works in the hands of many more people around the world.
