Buffy The Vampire Slayer is one of those shows to which I continue to come back. It is a kind of comforting food that can help make even the worst days more bearable. A side effect of constantly reviewing these classic episodes is that I get more than the blurred feeling of hot nostalgia. I am also fortunate to discover small strange details that we have never noticed before. Example: during a flashback in the Buffy Episode “becoming, part one” The former high school of the main character is in fact courthouse Square, a universal backlot which has been presented in many productions such as Return to the future.
Buffy and Courthouse Square

THE Buffy The Vampire Slayer The television program actually incorporated the intrigue of the previous film using Courthouse Square to portray the HEMERY high school. It is the same school based in Los Angeles that the Slayer attended in the original 1992 Buffy Film, and in the show, this is where the Merrick supervisor fills her about vampires and his responsibility to stop them. In particular, this flashback reveals that Angel, the vampire with a soul, took a look at Buffy and decided that he wanted to “be someone” who could help him with his supernatural struggles.
Here is a confession that could lose my geek credibility: I watched the episode “becoming” in two parts of countless times, and during the flashback, I was too busy admiring the connections with the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Film to notice the courthouse. This time, however, I found myself looking at the screen, unable to shake the feeling that I had seen this place before outside this series. It was then that it struck me: I am a child from the 80s, and this particular whole represented some of the greatest films of my childhood.

This universal backlot was built in 1948 (before Buffy The Vampire Slayer Creator Joss Whedon was even born) and before being called courthouse square. It was built for the film An act of murderBut his name was Mockingbird Square because he was strongly appeared in the famous 1962 adaptation of To kill a mocking bird. From 1985, however, he obtained his new name thanks to the culminating scene in Return to the future Where the young Marty McFly must set up a perfectly chronic flash in the future or be stuck in the past forever.
It’s true: the same set that was used for this Buffy flashback scene in “Devenant, Part One” was used to give life to Hill Valley Return to the futureIncluding the courthouse of this emblematic fictitious city. As for the famous clock tower, it was a removable addition, and it is not uncommon for various directors to add landscapes when they do not want courthouse square to look like … well … just a courthouse.
For films lovers, part of what has done Return to the future Director Robert Zemeckis is so special that used the whole lot to give life to Hill Valley, although a large part (including the same theater and the same clock tower) can be seen in Joe Dante’s Gremlinswhich was released the previous year. And while Return to the future And Gremlins are the most famous films that this Buffy The entire courthouse was presented in viewers in the eyes of Aigle Batman and Robin,, All-powerful bruiceAnd much more, including the recent defective but fun horror film Maxxxine.
Certainly, this Buffy The Vampire Slayer The episode was already very satisfactory, but the ball (so to speak) courthouse square passes to the upper level. Just like that, one of my favorite television programs is connected to several of my favorite films and directors. Fortunately, the whole even survived the fire on several occasions, but no one needed a real life killer to cross the fire to help them turn off the flames and preserve this emblematic piece of history Hollywood.
