Palmer is stuck in a rut
The Chelsea Southampton hammering provided the perfect platform for some of the Enzo Maresca sub-performative stars to rediscover their confidence. But this was not the case for Cole Palmer.
The 22 -year -old has no longer managed to score a goal for seven games. Even his creativity dried up. It was a 14 game section without passing for the Talisman of Chelsea.
Nor was it for the desire to try. Palmer managed seven shots against Southampton, more than any other player on the field. Nothing fell for him.
For the first time in his professional career, Palmer finds himself in a rut. And he does not yet know how to get out.
Palmer’s underlying numbers before this game suggested that the problem was not only with it. No player in the league had created as much chances as him in the 13 games preceding it.
Tuesday evening’s match, however, revealed a player short of confidence. Easy to forget, being just a few moments before the first two Chelsea goals, but Palmer had two glaring chances.
Aaron Ramsdale arrested the first, but half of the goal was gaping for Palmer to score. Then he seemed in two spirits to shoot and pass when he played in the right.
Palmer has more than enough credit to the bank to raise the shoulders of this race. This is the first drop in a first month of 18 months sparkling in senior football as a regular starter in which he is barely wrong.
Maresca is no doubt that this moment will pass soon. “All the big players go through bad times when they have trouble scoring,” said the boss of Chelsea after the match.
“Right now, Cole is struggling to score or finds it good for the right thing, but he is happy. He knows it is something normal.
“It’s lucky because Cole has had time in a big club with great players and knows that players go through moments like this. He reacts perfectly, he laughs. He has to enjoy football.”
But more difficult tests await us in Chelsea and they will need their star man to find his way to this hole if they want to be serious contenders for the qualification of the Champions League.

Form outside the villa season
Aston Villa has a draw of the Champions League favorable to the last match against Club Brugge to wait until next month. On this evidence, they should take advantage of their participation in the competition while it lasts.
Their chances of qualifying for this took a huge blow with their 4-1 defeat against Crystal Palace, a result which leaves them 10th and highlights, once again, their difficulties as Villa Park. These are now seven defeats from their last nine first League games outside. Their record on the road is the sixth worst of the division this season.
It is not durable for a team with real aspirations of the qualification in the Champions League to rely so strongly on their original form, but there is little evidence of improving the situation.
In fact, it was probably their worst defeat to date. Palace has torn them several times. The score did not flattered them. Morgan Rogers brilliantly won his goal in front of the Watching Thomas Tuchel, but it was the only positive of a lamentable night who also presented a potential injury to goalkeeper Emi Martinez.
Unai Emery must find a solution to their difficulties on the road quickly since their next first League games take place at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford and A Amex de Brighton. There is also the little question of this trip to Brugge to face. Currently, their form outside threatens to ruin their campaign.

Wharton embodies Tuchel Watches on
With the boss of England Thomas Tuchel looking, it was a slightly perfect timing for Adam Wharton to make a long -awaited return to the Crystal Palace from eleven.
It was also a display, the 21 -year -old was back in a transparent way in the midfielder’s midfielder, having a hand in three of the palaces goals while doing more final passes from the third than any other player of Palace with 14.
Oliver Glasner said that after the match, it was a rusty start for the midfielder, who would then acclimat after a four -month implementation.
“He played excellent,” said Glasner.
“When you see the second goal, with its pass to Ebelechi Eze. It is its quality, its pre-orientation. It is also one of our habits, winning the ball on the half-right side, going to the half left, and you have one or two keys, and he has the quality to find the player, he has the quality to perform the pass in the right way.
Wharton was the forgotten man as unused member of the EURO team of 26 men from Gareth Southgate last summer, but he gave Tuchel a performance to remember while Palace put Aston Villa on the sword.

Minteh the unknown hero who set the tone to Brighton
Brighton could well be on something special now between now and the end of the campaign according to their fantastic four before that is swinging and driving at the moment. Georgino Rutter dazzled in his pocket, dressing with Joao Pedro for sometimes devastating effects. There is a wavelength that makes Brighton such a dangerous team.
Kaoru Mitoma also offers such quality, but it is the performance of Yankuba Minteh without the ball that has attracted the eye. He was phenomenal outside the possession in terms of work rate and ensuring that Tariq Lamptey was not invasive by Antoine Semenyo.
MINTEH made seven incredible plated in the match – the greatest number of players. Not bad for someone who is supposed to play like a winger. His enthusiasm for mud in gone the tone to Brighton to record three huge points.

Sessegnon reminds all those with whom he is always a strength with which we must count
Ryan SESSENGNO had to be extraordinarily patient. His previous departure in the Premier League came for Tottenham during a 2-0 defeat against Arsenal more than two years ago. Fifty-eight seconds after his next departure in the competition, he had his big moment, marking the opener.
Fulham fans know what their former Wonder boy is able to deliver, this finish specifies in the distant corner typical of so many people he has marked in the past, the catalyst behind their promotion in 2018 while he was the Championship player of the year.
“A player starting at 16 at a high level, I think all of us here and probably all those who love football in this country recognized at this moment that he was going to have an incredible career because he was a talent for High, high level, “said Fulham boss Marco Silva, in Molinine.
But thereafter, injuries, many of them, and the faux pas de quarry strange too. Now 24 years old, he is back in Craven Cottage and Rebuilding. Finally offered the opportunity to start after encouraging the signs in cup competitions, he showed that he could always be a force.
“You should keep it healthy,” added Silva. “He must be confident again, again on the rhythm, the intensity and the requirements of the Premier League because the other things he has.”
A goal in a third consecutive victory outside will help Sessegnon a lot.
