Today, streaming film is a well -established phenomenon. A modern analog of real film with formidable video, streaming films are embodied by, let’s say, a romantic comedy Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon which takes control of the privileged video. Or perhaps Cameron Diaz’s first film in 11 years which, although embarrassed by terrible criticism, still manages to dominate Netflix. So, a thriller of action by the second director of the unit of “Titanic?” It is surely written Netflix everywhere.
It is interesting to note, however, “Renegades”, of filmmaker Steven Quale (“Final Destination 5”), obtained a theater release in 2017. It was not in the United States, but it was nevertheless an outing theatrical. Unfortunately, when you spend the equivalent of $ 77.5 million on a film, you surely hope it will do more than 1.5 million dollars At the box office, even if it only reaches theaters in Germany and France. “Renegades” (also known as “American Renegades”) saw a theatrical start in the two European countries in 2017 and found its way in the United States via a DVD and Blu-ray version of Lionsgate. But not only did he not succeed in making major money, but it was a downright critical failure; “Calamity” is the only word I can think of who covers it.
So, what is “renegades” and why everyone hates it? It is a film written by Luc Besson and Richard Wenk about a team from Navy Seals who embarks on a mission to recover Nazi gold stolen in a city engulfed at the bottom of a lake. If it looks like the kind of explosive actuator that could be so bad that it is good, take a look at its 11% Rotten tomatoes score. Hey, at least, there is JK Simmons for any reason.
But wait. Just as “Renegades” looked like the type of film that would never receive general public recognition, a Savior emerges to flirt with the unhappy action film of the dark depths of the dark. Yes, Netflix viewers look at this thing in mass.
Renegades ensures Netflix cards
“Renegades” … Do you want to know the complete plot to it? Beyond Nazi Gold and Navy Seals, there are very few others to cover, but if you like the idea of JK Simmons as a severe amount with a penchant to punish his insubordinate soldiers, there is that . However, 11% on rotten tomatoes … Yikes.
But Netflix subscribers apparently cannot have enough of Steven Quale’s unprecedented film. According to FlixpatrolA site that follows the streaming audience figures on the different platforms, the film has in fact very successful on Netflix, where it is currently number three on the most watched cinema tables in the United States. On February 2, 2025, only one day after making his debut on the service, he entered the charts in second place before slipping at number three a day later. But it always means that, for a day, he went beyond the delightfully nasty party of Ralph Fiennes, “The Menu”, which, at the time of writing, is the number one streaming film on Netflix in the United States.
Will the “Renegades” be able to make their way to first place? Well, he will have to defeat the “return in action” inexplicably powerful. The disappearance of Cameron Diaz of Hollywood for 11 years was apparently sufficient to make sure that his return would be a big problem, and “back in action” has now dominated the Netflix charts for a few weeks. He is currently number two in the American ranking, which means that “Renegades” has pseuche for this. If the film can overcome the truly appalling criticism and the attraction of Diaz to do the work, however, it will be a small victory for Quale and all that the European distributor has lost millions on his film – but a victory nevertheless.
