Mexico will not allow the United States government to send Mexican migrants to Guantánamo bay in Cuba, the detention camp, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mexico said on Tuesday.
Foreign Minister Juan Ramon of Fuente said that Mexico preferred to receive migrants directly.
The Mexican government has sent a diplomatic note to the United States Embassy in Mexico to explain its position.
This occurs after the press secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, told journalists on Tuesday that the Trump administration had started stealing illegal migrants from the United States in Guantánamo bay, although she has not specified the nationalities of people on these flights.

“I can also confirm that today the first flights of the United States in Guantánamo bay with illegal migrants are underway,” said Leavitt.
“And therefore President Trump, Pete Hegseth and Kristi Noem already hold this promise to use this ability to Gitmo for illegal criminals who have violated the immigration laws of our nation, then have still committed odious crimes against citizens Legal Americans here, “she said.
President Donald Trump promised to extend the detention camp to contain up to 30,000 “illegal criminal foreigners”. The American military base has been criticized worldwide for its inhuman abuses and their torture of prisoners, including in interrogation tactics.
A Fort Bliss flight to Guantánamo Bay has about a dozen migrants on board, according to the Pentagon. An additional flight left the United States on Monday.
Migrants will be held in the detention camp which was set up for prisoners following September 11. Migrants will be separated from the 15 detainees who were already there, including the 2001 terrorist attack planners.

Last week, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel described Trump’s efforts to send 30,000 migrants to Guantánamo an “act of brutality”.
“In an act of brutality, the new American government announces imprisonment at the Guantánamo naval base, located on an illegally occupied territory [of Cuba]Thousands of migrants which he expels in force and will place them alongside the well-known prisons of illegal torture and detention, “he said in an article translated on X.
