Your guide on what the US elections of 2024 mean for Washington and Le Monde
Ukraine is ready to accept an American proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire in his war with Russia as long as Moscow does the same, kyiv and Washington said on Tuesday.
The ceasefire could be extended if the two parties agreed, according to a joint declaration which capped several hours of talks between US and Ukrainian officials in Djeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Washington said he will also immediately restore military assistance and put an end to his intelligence sharing suspension, which Kyiv feared to hinder his ability to detect and reach targets beyond the battlefield.
The ceasefire would go beyond the partial break suggested by the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the days preceding the crucial meeting with the American officials of Djeddah, and who was supposed to apply to strikes of long-range drones and missiles as well as military black sea activities.
