Carly Pearce recalls each little thing about these first hangouts with Kelsea Ballerini.
“I met Kelsea in a female singer-songwriter group,” said Pearce, 34 years old exclusively US Weekly Before playing at NBC Opry 100: A live celebration. “It seems so crazy, but we were both young, aspiring in grass, songwriters-composers who found a community because someone thought we had to have a female community in Nashville.”
While Pearce remembers being a little “jealous” of Ballerini, 31, after having concluded a registration contract, the pair has developed a bond of trust that resisted the test of time.
“I think that the vulnerability and honesty that we both had a friendship at that time, during these first years for both of us who continued because she had her first blow, and she thought of taking me on the road with her,” recalls Pearce to We. “She published on my music and let me once set up her tourist bus because I was driving a 12 passenger van and I was not sleeping for a show.”
These days, Pearce and Ballerini both have secure recording agreements, are members of the Grand Ole Opry and remain closer than ever when they continue to live their musical dreams.
In an industry that can become competitive, the singer “We are no longer fighting” is grateful to have found a great friend at the start of her trip.

“We really support each other, let’s talk about each other, we are crying out for each other,” said Pearce about his link with Ballerini. “It is a confidante that I am so lucky that I was able to look at the star literally, and she looked at mine getting up and flourishing, and so it’s fun to do things with your friend who understands with a single look what you think.”
