The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, is expected to meet the promotion of exports on March 13.
According to sources, the meeting is one of the minister’s regular interactions on trade -related issues, but recent developments concerning American commercial and tariff announcements are also likely to be discussed.
“While the minister regularly holds such meetings with the export promotion councils, taking into account the current issues on the reciprocal rates of the United States as well as the proposed bilateral trade agreement, it is likely that these questions will also be discussed,” said familiar staff with development.
The Minister recently returned from a trip by the US Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer and the US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to trigger discussions around the proposed bilateral trade agreement. India has indicated the desire to reduce prices on several articles, but the United States is interested in a more complete trade agreement.
Earlier Monday, the Secretary of Commerce, Sunil Barthwal, informed a parliamentary panel on which negotiations with the United States are still and no agreement on the trade rates has been concluded between the two countries so far. The national industry has also shown the desire to reduce import duties to the United States products.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced that reciprocal prices would be imposed by the United States from other countries from April 2.
The affiliate of RSS Swadeshi Jagran Manch said that India should protect his national interest while undertaking these negotiations. The interests of farmers and small entrepreneurs must be protected, he said.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with US President Donald Trump, the two countries had decided to deepen bilateral trade ties and double him at $ 500 billion by 2030 and negotiate the first phase of a bilateral trade agreement by the fall of 2025.
