(Bloomberg) – Didi Global Inc. is looking for a new capital for its autonomous driving unit which could enhance it at around 5 billion dollars, said people familiar with the situation, while Chinese technological companies make investor enthusiasm.

The Didi autonomous driving unit operates an autonomous fleet of more than 200 vehicles that have conducted tests in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai. The Chinese carpooling firm unveiled its first Robotaxi concept, the Neuron Didi, in April 2023.
Didi can use the product to continue developing autonomous driving technologies and accelerating mass production of its Robotaxi, said one of the people. Deliberations are underway and the company could still decide not to continue an agreement, people said.
A Didi representative did not immediately respond to a request asking for comments.
Autonomous driving and automatic learning were at the forefront of a recent gathering on the Chinese stock markets, initiated by the arrival of the R1 model at low cost of startup Deepseek. The support of President Xi Jinping also prompted investors to reassess the country’s technological companies and their growth prospects.
Autonomous entrepreneur James Peng became a billionaire after an increase in the actions of his startup Robotaxi Pony Ai Inc., who has a market value of $ 5.3 billion. Pony AI has increased by around 16% since its first public public call in November.
Weride Inc., which has a Robotaxi service agreement with Uber Technologies Inc. in Abu Dhabi, saw its shares increase by 135% in mid-February after Nvidia Corp. revealed an investment in Chinese society.
Didi Autoomous Driving raised $ 298 million to investors led by Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. during a series of financing for the C series in October, according to a press release on its official WeChat account. The other donors of the company include SoftBank Vision Fund, IDG Capital, CCB International and the alternative investment company CPE.
