A whistle, a pop and a petizz – the emblematic soda goli of India marked once the summer afternoons with an explosion of sweetness and a marble housed in the neck of the bottle. Decades later, the same nostalgic experience is not entrusted to the world public, not in street trolleys, but the shelves of supermarkets. Represents as Goli Pop Soda, the beloved drink is now organizing an international return, thanks to a thrust of agricultural authority and transformed food development products (APEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Once the basis in Indian households, Goli Soda has reappeared with a new identity – Goli Pop Soda – and made strong breakthroughs on international markets. Mergé by Apeda, this revival is part of a wider initiative to promote Indian heritage drinks worldwide.
The soft drink has already entered the countries of the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Gulf thanks to test expeditions. In the Gulf region, a partnership with Fair Exports India obtained a conservation space through the hypermarkets of Lulu, one of the largest retail chains in the region. The answer, noted Apeda, was extremely positive.
In the United Kingdom, Goli Pop Soda transcended its nostalgic roots to become a fashionable drink, resonating with consumers looking for traditional flavors in a modern avatar. It is not only a soft drink – it is cultural narration in a bottle.
To commemorate its international beginnings, a flag ceremony took place on February 4, 2025, organized by Abnn with the support of Apeda. The event symbolized more than a product launch – it marked India’s intention to direct authenticity in the world drinks industry.
A major attraction is its packaging, which retains the signature pop opener, reviving the familiar sparkling burst with which Indian consumers have grown up. This little detail played a big role in its attraction abroad, marrying nostalgia with a novelty.
Apeda also highlighted Goli Pop Soda internationally Food & Drink Event (IFE) London 2025, from March 17 to 19. The platform has enabled Indian entrepreneurs to engage with world buyers and to present the extent of India transformed food offers.
While Goli Pop Soda finds new fans in the world, that is more than thirst – that tells the story of the food heritage of India and proving that local flavors can be held to the other against multinational giants.
