Shawn Pierre, the president of the Independent Games Festival, opened the independent Games Festival prices with a plea to support game developers.
Pierre has had sincere words for the public, which was hardly affected by layoffs, studios and other ailments that have made life difficult for game developers in recent times.
“I am sure that many of us have been overwhelmed by many. “The struggle for equity, for responsibility, to treat people as people, and not as figures, is something that must continue.”
He said that the difficulties in which independent developers are faced with discovery to funding are always present, and it is difficult to think about what is next on the horizon.
“But watching you all work every day, whether full -time or part -time or between other applications, watching them repel the limits of the game industry, looking at the world’s liaison ideas, looking at everyone trying to connect each other. It is nothing less than the inspiring,” said Pierre.
“Personally, I think that to really connect to each other through the games, we must look beyond what we see on our screens and look at the talented people who put their time, their efforts, their hopes, their dreams, their victories or their deepest thoughts in experiences like the ones you see here this evening,” he said. “We have to look at individuals, listen to their voices and, more importantly, support everyone in their quest to prosper in this community.”
He said that the game industry has an incredibly diversified set of people and experiences in the world community of independent games.
“We are responsible for taking care of women,” said Pierre. “So support the games created by your friends and those made by blacks and whites. Support the games made by Trans People. Support the games made by queer people and that made by a stranger on the other side of the planet. Support your friends. “
He added: “Support your friends you see once a year at GDC. But also listen to the voices of those who are unable to attend this year’s conference for fear for their own safety.” And he said by supporting all these things and these voices can we really connect the world and each other through the art of video games.
