Replicas and air strikes hit Myanmar
More than 1,600 people were confirmed dead in Myanmar during the weekend, and more than 3,000 were injured in the worst earthquake to hit the country for more than a century. Here is a map of damage and images from the region.
Yesterday, a replica struck Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar, near the epicenter of the initial earthquake, reversing several buildings which had already survived. Many fear for the missing, whose chances are falling strongly after this evening, when a 72 -hour crucial survival window ends.
In the midst of natural destruction, the military junta during the weekend continued a brutal bombing campaign. A long civil war has ravaged the country, leaving nearly 20 million people needing shelters and food even before the earthquake, according to the UN
Power: Experts say that the earthquake could change the trajectory of civil war. The Arakan army, a powerful rebellious group, has gained control of large parts of the state of Rakhine. He could use this moment to take the south of the country of the military.
Help: The support of other countries is coming, but doubts have remained on how the Myanmar army would distribute the essential relief.
“They have long history of the use of aid as a weapon,” American ambassador at Myanmar from 2016 from 2016 told 2020.
Thailand: The earthquake sent a building to Bangkok crashed on the ground, killing at least 11 people.
The secret history of war in Ukraine
After the armies of Russia took place in Ukraine in 2022, two Ukrainian generals went to an American military installation in Germany. There, they sealed a partnership that brought America into war much more intimately than that before.
This agreement, known only to a small group of civil servants, has become part of what the Biden administration has formulated as its efforts to save both Ukraine and protect order after the Second World War in the West. It also allowed Ukrainians to survive three long years of fighting a much larger and more powerful enemy.
Now, while President Trump is starting to cancel the elements of this agreement, here is the incalculable story of the hidden role of America in military operations against the invasive armies of Russia.
And if you are in a hurry, we have the main dishes to take here.

Syria has trained a new government
The acting president of Syria, Ahmed Al-Shara, announced a new goalkeeper government during the weekend and finished his swears in 23 ministers of the cabinet yesterday. Several are close allies, but others are independent. He appointed ministers of each of the main ethnic minorities. Among the 23 are five Assad ministers who served before the civil war.
Al-Shara has kept most of the official power at hand: he left close allies in charge of defense and foreign and interior affairs.
What is the next step: The government will be in power for five years, allowing a permanent constitution to be adopted and the elections take place.
Elsewhere in the region: Israel and Hamas indicated that renewed ceasefire talks were underway, but the details were elusive.
Trump’s help and visa cuts left students from the American University of Afghanistan in crisis. When the Taliban returned to power in 2021 and targeted the campus, hundreds of students were evacuated to schools from other countries.
Now, with funds that dry in June, students may have to go home, where women cannot get an education and Western ideals could be persecuted.
Lived life: Gananath Obeyesekere, an anthropologist and a leading intellectual figure in his Sri Lanka Natal and his Western academic, died at 95 years old.

The skateboard takes up the sky
Before the skateboarder Tony Hawk arrived on the 900 in 1999 – named after the number of rotation degrees that the movement needs – the trick seemed impossible. And then vertical, or “green” skating, this illustrated hawk fades in popularity – so far.
Recently, a rush of young skaters flooded social media with videos of themselves launching into the air, shaping the future of sport when they fly. The renewal shocked certain veterans, but it allowed Hawk to postpone the form in the eyes of the public. He campaigned for Green skating to be at the 2028 Olympic Games. A final decision is expected on April 9.
