Xabi Alonso has not yet decided if he will remain coach of Bayer Leverkusen for next season.
The former Real Madrid midfielder, Liverpool and Bayern Munich was linked to jobs in the three clubs last summer before committing to staying in Bayarena but, 12 months later, he was not as clear when he was asked for his future.
With Arne Slot and Vincent Kompany both relatively new in their roles in Liverpool and Bayern, respectively, and as well with the two clubs on the edge of the landing of their domestic titles, Madrid was the most discussed destination for Alonso this summer.
But the 43 -year -old man gave nothing and said that his goal is to end the season well with Leverkusen as they seek to defend the Bundesliga crown that they won for the first time last season.
Speculations in Spain suggested that Alonon announces his decision today before the home match of tomorrow evening with Bochum, but he said: “There was nothing to decide.
“I have already said that our concentration, mine and that of all players, is [on] What we have. We must not think too far [ahead]. We are going to play by play. Individually [that’s my interest] Also.”
Asked if there was a deadline to decide, he added: “No, no. My thoughts are the same. I said [I’m] Focusing this season is the most important thing. We are in an important phase. We don’t want to speculate, we don’t want to think [anything] But football. Therefore, it is clear what we want. »»
According to #AlonsoApril is a very intense phase of the league. “Everything can happen!”

The pursuit of Brazil of Ancelotti could complicate things
While Carlo Ancelotti remains at Santiago Bernabeu, the president of Madrid, Florentino Perez, will be relatively relaxed, but this situation could change if Brazil intensifies their interest in the Italian.
The Brazilian football association would have planned a meeting to discuss the future of Dorival Junior after Tuesday 4-1 of Selecao by Argentina in the qualification of the World Cup on Tuesday and reports suggest that they want Ancelotti to take over at the end of the season to give it a lot of time to make its mark before the next summer cup.
If this scenario takes place, Madrid could test Alonso’s determination to see his contract in Leverkusen which takes place until June 2026.
Guti wants Alonso in Madrid
The former Madrid midfielder, Guti, thinks that Alonso is the best man for work in European champions.
He told El Chiringuito: “Is Xabi Alonso the successor to Ancelotti?” He is, he is without a doubt.
“I think what he did in Germany last year shows that he could be able to do so at Real Madrid. We are talking about a Leverkusen team who had won nothing for years, she had never won the Bundesliga.
“Let’s give it the opportunity.”
