US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded their high challenges on Tuesday on a possible 30-day ceasefire agreement to suspend war in Ukraine, a White House official at NBC News said.
The call, which started at 10 a.m., lasted at least 90 minutes, said the manager.
Deputy Chief of White House Dan Scavino Earlier, said the call was going “good”.
Russia was to expose its conditions for a break in the fighting during the call, which could include all arms expeditions to Ukraine, according to anonymous sources cited by Bloomberg.
Trump reported that the United States may also be willing to compromise with Russia.
“We will talk about land. We will talk about power plants,” Trump told journalists on Sunday after being asked about Moscow concessions in negotiations to end the war of more than three years in Ukraine.
“I think we have already discussed it a lot by both parties, Ukraine and Russia. We already talk about it, dividing certain assets,” he added, without giving more details.
“We want to see if we can end this war. Maybe we can, maybe we can’t, but I think we have a very good chance,” said Trump.
The Trump administration wants to obtain the support of Moscow for a 30 -day break in the fights in Ukraine.
kyiv has already accepted a cease-fire proposal, which led Washington to restart military aid and intelligence with the country torn apart by the war after a brief collapse of links following a stormy confrontation of the White House at the end of February.
Russia gave a more silent answer, Putin saying last week that he had accepted the idea in principle while listing the warnings and asking for new negotiations.
“The idea [of a ceasefire] He himself is correct and we certainly support him, but there are problems that must be discussed, “he said on Thursday, according to a translation of NBC.
“I think we have to talk to our American colleagues and partners,” said Putin. “Maybe calling President Trump and discussing it together. But we support the very idea of putting an end to this conflict by peaceful means.”
Putin also said that an agreement should “lead to long-term peace and eliminate the deep causes of this crisis” and question both the application of the ceasefire and if the 30-day break in fighting would allow Ukraine to “provide weapons” or “form newly mobilized units”.
Zelenskyy skeptical
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Putin’s response to cease-fire idea was “manipulative”.
“Now, we have all heard very predictable and very manipulative words of Putin in response to the idea of silence at the front – he actually prepares to reject him from now on,” said Zelenskyy in an evening address on Thursday.
A ceasefire could give the two parties time to consider its conditions for a future peace agreement. But the distance between the priorities of the two nations is important.
Ukraine fears that it will be pushed to concede a territory occupied by Russia in Moscow and insists on security guarantees.
Analysts are skeptical about the fact that Russia will easily accept a ceasefire or remain completely by a truce.
Before the start of the large-scale war in 2022, previous cease-fire agreements to end the fighting between separatists supported by Russia and the Ukrainian forces in the east of the country saw the two parties accuse repeatedly to violate the agreements.

The Russian Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Grushko, said on Monday that the Kremlin would seek “security guarantees to close” in any future potential peace agreement that Ukraine would not be authorized to join the Otat of the Western military alliance and remain neutral.
“If we are talking about a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, then, of course, he will have an external overview,” said Grushko with Izvestia who was translated by Google.
“We will ask that the safety guarantees in cast iron will be part of this agreement,” he said. “Because it is only through their training that it will be possible to reach lasting peace in Ukraine and generally strengthen regional security.”
He said one of these conditions should be Ukraine’s neutral status and the refusal of NATO countries to accept kyiv in the organization.
