The British Broadcasting Corporation has filed a complaint with a British antitrust regulator complaining that aggregators like Apple News and Google News minimize credit for the stories they present.
Apple Insider reports that BBC asks for competition and UK markets To demand that Apple and Google create more information sources of information. And although the AMC’s decision theoretically applies to British publications, any change made by aggregators would probably affect other publishers.
“If the public derives the value of our content and our services but attribute this value to the guards instead of the BBC, then which undermines the perceived value of the BBC,” wrote the diffuser in his complaint.
This perceived value can be particularly important for the BBC because it draws the majority of its funding from the license fees paid by British households – it is therefore important that the work of the diffuser is visible and appreciated in order to maintain the support of the costs.
Apple recently made a summary break of AI news after complaints of BBC inaccuracy and other publishers.
