The director of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Vitor Pereira, refused to exclude the sale of the star striker Matheus Cunha this summer in the interest of transfer of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
After a fairly tamed start to his stay in Molinine, the Brazilian exploded in life in the last two seasons since his move from Atletico Madrid was made permanent for 44 million pounds sterling. He produced 14 goals last quarter and already improved this count in 2024/25, sparkling during a difficult campaign for old gold.
Wolves are flirting with relegation throughout the season, but have the ship for recent months and are now nine points in the fall zone – largely thanks to the individual engineering of Cunha.
The 25 -year -old was linked to a move to one of the European elites during the winter months, such was his impressive form, but he ended up staying in the midlands, even by signing a new contract with Wolves in February which takes place until 2029.
However, this did not prevent rumors from bypassing the interests of the teams such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, with the owner of the Wolves Vitor Pereira refusing to exclude the departure of Cunha this summer.
“He is engaged. This is the present. The future? I don’t know. He knows his potential”, the Portuguese coach raised his shoulders during his pre-match press conference before the confrontation with West Ham United.
“He is a better player. It is normal for him to have the ambition to fight for the titles. It is natural. This happens with other players. But the most important thing is to be committed and to help the team achieve our goals. At the end of the season, we will see.”
Cunha recently revealed that despite “a lot of offers” during the winter transfer window, he decided not to leave because he wanted to guide the wolves safe.
However, he could watch higher ambitions next season and the interest of the best clubs in the Premier League is intended to resurface. He reported that Cunha has a liberation clause of 62.5 million pounds sterling in his new contract, which means that any team that offers this sum can speak directly at the front.
Arsenal was considered the main candidates for the signing of Cunha in January and is expected to sign a new central center this summer. Their new sports director Andrea Berta even recruited Cunha during her stay with Atletico.
Liverpool and Man Utd were also linked to the clever attacker, both probably on the market to attack the reinforcements this summer.
