OPENAI announced its GPT-4.5 screening of its developer API in favor of its new GPT-4.1 model. OPENAI says that GPT-4.1 is available exclusively for developers using the Openai API, and is presented in three sizes, GPT-4.1, GPT-4.1 Mini and GPT-4.1 NANO. GPT-4.1 is supposed to be better in coding and “understanding of the long context”, according to Openai, with the support of “up to a million context chips” and knowledge of the world until June 2024.
Important for the decision to eliminate the overview GPT-4.5, GPT-4.1 is also cheaper to execute. OPENAI says that the model is “26% cheaper than the GPT-4O for median requests”.
