Struggle
- Three women were injured and several fires broke out in a Russian air attack against the South Ukrainian region of Mykolaïv, according to Ukrainian officials. The attack also damaged several houses, the governor of Mykolav Vitaliy Kim published on the Telegram messaging application.
- Russia has also launched air attacks against the Ukrainian capital kyiv, overnight, the city’s air defense forces trying to push the attack, according to officials.
- The latest strikes occur one day after the Ukrainian Air Force said they lowered 51 of the 92 drones launched in the country by Russian forces during the night on Saturday.
- The Russian Defense Ministry accused Ukraine of having increased its attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, including in the Bryansk, Belgorod, Smolensk, Lipetsk and Voronezh regions, despite a moratorium watered by the United States. Ukraine rejected complaints as “false”.
- Ukrainian drones have struck an explosive production installation in the Samara region in Russia, causing multiple explosions and fires, reported the Reuters news agency, citing a source in the Ukraine security service.
Politics and diplomacy
- Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his disappointment in the “weak reaction” of the United States Embassy to a Russian missile strike which killed 18 people, including nine children, in his hometown of Kryvyi Rih. He noted that the American condemnation of the attack has made no reference to Russia.
- Zelenskyy praised “tangible progress” after meeting British and French military leaders in kyiv to discuss the potential deployment of a multinational peacekeeping force in Ukraine.
