Nico Echavarria won a qualifying victory in the Masters Par-3 competition at Augusta National, while Rory McILroy and Scottie Scheffler presented before the first major of the year.
Echavarria and JJ SPAUN recorded five birdies each in their 22 without Bogey to finish at the top of the ranking during the annual Wednesday event, the two players exchanging pars on the first additional dam hole.
The players returned to the ninth hole for the third time, where Echavarria pulled his starting kick at three feet and made a winning birdie as Spaun – who lost a play -off to McILroy in the players last month – had to be satisfied with the second time after a closing bogey.
ECHAVARRIA – making its national debut of Augusta – now seeks to become the first player to win the competition by 3 and the Masters the same week, while three players pulled holes in one during a memorable competition.
“It’s great,” said Echavarria. “I hope we change the tradition! We will see on this subject, but we broke out there. It’s incredible.”
The champion par-3 of 2023, Tom Hoge, recorded a hole in one on the fourth hole, while the captain of the Ryder Cup Keegan Bradley and the five-year-old major winner Brooks Koepka both made ace on the sixth hole.
Tyrrell Hatton in England finished a third -party rhythm shot, with the former champions of the Masters Bubba Watson and Mark O’Meara two strokes in fourth row alongside Davis Riley, Matt McCarty and Laurie Canter.
Former world n ° 1 Justin Rose and Rasmus Hojgaard posted two under 25 years to end in the top 10 alongside the US Open Bryson Dechambeau champion, with Sir Nick Faldo of the group on a penny.
Only 20 players have carded an official total, many areas did not record their scores after leaving women, partners, friends, children and even grandchildren take them.
McILroy appeared alongside his daughter Poppy, who received one of the most noisy cheers of the day to Holer a long -range putt on the ninth hole, while Tommy Fleetwood’s son Frankie left the players in stitches following his impressive interview on Sky Sports.
The attention now turns to the tournament itself, where Scheffler seems to become the first consecutive winner of The Masters since Tiger Woods and McILroy have another opportunity to finish the big career chelem.
