The President of the United States, Donald Trump, sentenced Russian president Vladimir Putin after a Russian missile attack against the Ukrainian capital, kyiv, killed at least 12 people and injured dozens.
Publishing Thursday on the Truth social platform, which he owns, Trump wrote that the attacks were “not necessary” and “very” poorly timed.
“Vladimir, stop! 5,000 soldiers per week are dying,” said the post.
Trump’s direct call to Putin came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged his allies to put Russia in more pressure to stop his war, which started more than three years ago.
At a press conference in South Africa with its president, Cyril Ramaphosa, Zelenskyy said: “We do not see the signs of the United States exerting strong pressure on Russia as part of its surge of peace. We believe that we can bring our sides closer with greater pressure on Russia. ”
Washington reports, DC, Mika Hanna from Al Jazeera said Trump’s message on Truth Social is a rare attempt to put a kind of pressure on Putin.
“But again, Trump uses` `vladimir ” – which could be interpreted as an almost affectionate term – once again indicating the nature of his relationship with Putin as opposed to the nature of his relationship with the Ukrainian chief,” he said.
“Trump and his administration have done in recent days and have put immense pressure on Ukrainian management, saying essentially that they must abandon the territory to conclude a peace agreement,” noted Hanna.
“He has not applied the same pressure to the Russian chief, so there seems to be a bias while the United States is trying to negotiate a peace between countries at war,” he added.
George Barros, analyst of the American Institute for the Study of War, also thinks that the United States has various ways of exerting greater pressure on Putin if it chooses it.
“There are things that the United States can do to * do * a vladimir stop. Putin has vulnerabilities that we neglect, we gave or choose not to take advantage,” said Barros in an article on social networks.
“Putin Bance on the United States, leaving Russia in search of the precarious position of Russia,” he added.
“ The windows break and the doors falling from their hinges ”
The Ukrainian army said Russia used at least 11 ISKANDER ballistic missiles, 55 cruise missiles of several types and four guided bombs launched from tactical planes in its attack on Kyiv on Thursday.
He said that at least 145 Shahed drones designed by Iran and simulator drones of different types were also involved and the projectiles were launched from Bryansk, Kursk, Belgorod and other Russian regions.
Olena Davydiuk, a 33 -year -old lawyer in kyiv, told AFP news agency that she had seen Windows to break and that the doors “fall from their hinges” during the dam.
“People were withdrawn from the rubble. They said there were dead there too,” she added.
The Ukrainian army said that seven of the ballistic missiles, 37 of cruise missiles, all guided bombs and 64 drones were intercepted and 68 drone simulators fell without causing damage.
The Russian Defense Ministry said: “The strike objectives have been achieved. All objects have been affected.”
The ministry said that Russian military operations on the front line of the war, including in eastern Ukraine, killed hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers and destroyed dozens of tanks and armored vehicles during the last day.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also accused the Ukrainian president of “destroying” diplomacy to conclude a peace agreement in the midst of conversations on the potential recognition of the annexation of Crimea, which the Trump administration proposed.
Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told journalists that Zelenskyy did not have the capacity to negotiate an agreement, adding that continuous EU arms transfers to Ukraine encourage more conflicts.
Europe also condemns Putin
The head of the European Union foreign policy Kaja Kallas, however, wrote in an article on X that Moscow’s attacks against Ukraine are not a continuation of peace but “a mockery of it”.
“The real obstacle is not Ukraine but Russia, whose war objectives have not changed,” she said.
French president Emmanuel Macron also said that Putin should “stop lying” to want peace in Ukraine while continuing to hit the country.
“The only thing to do is for President Putin to finally stop lying,” said Macron during a visit to Madagascar on Thursday.
With Thursday’s attacks on Thursday against kyiv, launching even more doubts about the American efforts already sent to push Russia and Ukraine to stop in the fights, Macron said that Putin was the only person who was holding the truce of truce proposed by the United States and supported by Europe.
“In Ukraine, they want only one answer: does President Putin accept an unconditional ceasefire?” Said Macron.
“If President Putin says yes, the weapons were open tomorrow. Lives will be saved. “
