Former Indian cricket player and current head coach of the Indian Cricket team, Gautam GambirHaving strongly recommended that India should refrain from playing cricket matches against Pakistan. He stressed that no commitment between the two countries is more important than the security and well-being of Indian citizens. Known for its simple and uncompromising position, Gambir’s remarks came following the recent terrorist attack sponsored by Pakistan targeting tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu-Cachemire.
Indian-Pakistan cricket is not a priority in the midst of national concerns
Gambhir has recognized that the decision to engage in bonds with cricket with Pakistan resides in government, but the opinion of his person is “Absolutely no”. However, he reiterated his long -standing conviction that no cricket match, no artistic interaction or no form of interaction is more important than the life of Indian soldiers and citizens. He stressed that if the matches will continue, the films will be produced and the artists will perform, none of this can compare themselves to the pain of losing a loved one.
Speaking to ABP News, Gambir said “In the end, it is the government’s decision, whether we were playing them or not. I have already said it, no cricket or bollywood match or any other interaction is more important than the life of Indian soldiers and Indian citizens. The matches will continue to perform, the films will be made, the singers will continue to perform, but nothing is close to losing a loved one.”

Gambir clarifies the position of the team on matches in India-Pakistan in the World Cup and Asia
By questioning the next games in India-Pakistan in the World Cup and Asia. Gambhir also said that the decision to play against Pakistan does not fall under its jurisdiction and rests with the Cricket control advice in India (BCCI) And, more importantly, the government. He said that the team would support and fully respect the decision that the government chooses to make.
“It is not mine, it is not in my jurisdiction, it is for BCCI and, more importantly, the government to decide whether we must play them or not. Whatever the decision that the government takes, we will absolutely agree with this.” Gambir added.
The bilateral cricket links of India-Pakistan have been pending since the ODI 2012-13 series due to geopolitical tensions, in particular on cross-border terrorism. The matches are now limited to ICC tournaments without a bilateral series in sight.
