“Something like more than 70% of [Anthropic’s] Traction requests are now written by the Claude code, ”Krieger told me. As for what these engineers do with additional time, Krieger said they orchestrate the Claude code base and, of course, attend meetings. “It becomes really obvious to the quantity of others in the role of software engineering,” he noted.
The pair has played voted bottles of water and answered a range of press questions on a future Compute cluster with Amazon (Amodei says that “parts of this cluster are already used for research”) and the displacement of workers due to AI (“I don’t think you can unload your business strategy on something like that,” said Krieger).
The spokespersons we had said that we were not allowed to ask questions about policies and regulations, but Amodei offered an unwinding overview from his point of view on a controversial provision in the megabill of President Trump which would prohibit AI regulation at the level of the State for 10 years: “If you drive the car, that is one thing to say”. This is another thing to say “we are going to tear off the steering wheel, and we cannot put it back for 10 years,” said Amodei.
What does Amodei think the most? He says that the race down, where security measures are cut to participate in the AI race.
“The absolute puzzle of anthropic’s execution is that we have to somehow find a way to do both,” said Amodei, which means that the company must compete and deploy AI safely. “You may have heard this stereotype which,” oh, the busiest companies, they take the most time to do security tests. They are the slowest. “This is not at all what we found.
