More than 250 CEOs have signed a open letter Posted in the New York Times on Monday calling for AI and IT to be “main components” of K-12 programs.
The signatories, who include Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, CEO of Etsy Josh Silverman and the CEO of Uber Dara Khosrowshahi, argue that IA IT and education are essential to “keep competitive America”.
“Countries like Brazil, China, [South] Korea and Singapore have already returned IT or AI compulsory for each student, “said the letter.” The United States is late. In the AI era, we need to prepare our children in the future – to be AI creators, not just consumers. »»
The letter arrives that President Donald Trump’s administration is trying to shape a new American AI policy – and that the deep cuts of federal programs are likely to harm the basic research on AI. Last week, Trump published an executive decree to promote the integration of AI into kindergarten in the 12th year, higher education and workplace thanks to partnerships between industry and the university world.
