Fox News’ principal medical analyst, Dr. Marc Siegel, weighs on RFK Jr.’s efforts to make America healthier because he targets sugar and food and his potential decision to drop cores for children.
An increasing number of well -known food products, sparkling cereal drinks are reformulated as part of a commitment made by the main food giants to eliminate artificial colors and use cleaner ingredients.
General Mills and Kraft Heinz, two of the largest food manufacturers in the world, are committed last week to eliminate all the artificial dyes of their respective American portfolios by the end of 2027. The movements came in the midst of the Trump administration calls to make food supply more transparent and ensure the safety of chemicals in food. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced in May that it launched a stronger examination process for food chemicals already on the market.
Artificial dyes are known as FD&C colors and labeled as such on packages because the color additive is approved by the FDA for use in food, drugs and cosmetics. They are subject to a strict system of approval under the federal law on food, drugs and cosmetics (FD & C ACT).
Health and social services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has worked to cut the colors of the American food supply since its entry into office, arguing that “some food producers have fueled Americans’ oil -based chemicals without their knowledge or consent” for too long. He also said that these “toxic compounds have no nutritional advantage and pose real and measurable dangers for the health and development of our children”.

The fda has approved seven certified color additives for use in food, six of which we have approved by 1931. NOW it’s seeing to work with the Industry to Elimate FD & C Green No. 3, FD & C Red No. 40, FD & C Yellow No. 5, FD & C Yellow No. 6, FD & C Blue No. FD & C Blue No. 2 from the Food Supply by the End of Next Year As Part of Series of New Measures to Phase Out All Petroleum-Based Synthetic Colors of the country’s food supply.
In January, the FDA revoked the authorization for the use of red n ° 3, also known as erythrosine, in food and drugs ingested on the concerns that it has been shown to cause cancer in animals.
Kennedy noted that this effort would need voluntary support from food manufacturers, but that “industry has voluntarily agreed” to do so.
However, apart from General Mills and Kraft Heinz, In-N-out Burger, Steak ‘N Shake, Pepsico and McCormick have already made similar commitments earlier this year.
