The Rangers signed the defender Max Aarons on a loan from a season of Bournemouth.
The 25-year-old becomes the second signature of the Rangers, after the Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron, who moved to Ibrox after accepting a pre-contract in February.
However, the arrival of Aarons is the first sanctioned by the new head coach Russell Martin and the sports director Kevin Thelwell as they seek to strengthen the team before the qualifier of the second round of the Champions League next month against Panathinaikos.
It is understood that there is no purchase option included in the agreement for the Defender, who played four times for Bournemouth last season before lending himself to Valence in January.
Aarons is a player that Martin knows well, having spent time together in Norwich, and will provide competition to Captain James Tavernier.
Speaking after joining the Rangers, Aarons said: “I am delighted to be here, because you can see it, it’s a huge club and you realize that when you cross the doors, I can’t wait to start.
“I have a lot of experience now in different leagues and I have played a lot of games. I think I can bring this experience, I can bring a new energy, and I think that rangers fans can be excited – I can’t wait to be there.”
The Rangers boss, Martin, added: “Max is a player on which I always kept a careful eye because he was emerging in the ranks of young people when I came at the end of my time to Norwich as a player. He is a wonderfully talented player who is hungry to develop, improve and help to offer success on his side.”
