Arne Slot admitted that Liverpool “lacked” after seeing their hopes of the Champions League ending with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Merseysiders had the chance to emerge with an advance of 1-0 from the first stage in Paris last week, goalkeeper Alisson making a series of impressive backups.
The match of last night started in an opposite manner with Liverpool pouring forward without applying the final touch, then being caught by a quick counterattack ended by Ousmane Dembele.
This equaled the scores on the big ones and the match went to extra time, then to penalties with PSG 4-1 after Gianluigi Donnarumma saved from Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones.

“It was the best football match in which I was involved,” said Slot on Amazon Prime. “Incredible performances, especially compared to last week. The first 20/25 minutes, we were everywhere, we created chance after chance and all of a sudden, we were 1-0. It was probably almost the opposite, maybe we lacked luck because the margins were so small tonight.
“After 90 minutes, it seemed that we deserve more than 1-0. I expected that we are marking. We played the perfect game, except by scoring the goals, it was the same for PSG last week when they played the perfect game and did not score and that happened to us today.
“There was everything you would like to see a football match. From Liverpool’s point of view, you would at least like to have a draw after 90 minutes, but that was summed up with the penalties. »»
Place Druit for Liverpool dit Slot
PSG struggled in the first weeks of the group of the redesigned Champions League and had to go to Brest in the playoffs to reach the last 16.
But they are now a different proposal and the two performances against Liverpool mark them as one of the favorites of the tournament.
Slot added: “It is unfair to go out in turn already, you are at the top of the table, then you face a team like PSG, but it is also the beautiful part of football. Everyone in the world liked to watch this match and the margins are small, and if you want to win it, you must be lucky, we had it last week, I don’t think we had it today.
“Now it’s clear what we have to do for the rest of the season, a final of the League Cup and nine Premier League games.”
Liverpool will face Newcastle in the EFL Cup final in Wembley on Sunday.
