Yoko Shimomura, known for having composed many emblematic video game music scores, will be honored with a Bafta scholarship.
His musical works include the Kingdom Hearts series, Final Fantasy XV and Xenoblade Chronicles.
The scholarship, the highest distinction of Charity arts, will be presented to the 21st Bafta Games Awards on April 8, broadcasting live on Twitch and YouTube from 11:00 a.m. Pacific time.
Shimomura is a Japanese composer and pianist. It will be recognized for its contribution to the game industry. The BAFTA Stock Exchange recognizes those who have made an exceptional and exceptional contribution to the cinema, to games or on television and which is the most prestigious honor of the C charitable Arts.
Credited as the composer of countless video game soundtracks defining the era appreciated by millions of players around the world for future generations.

Shimomura graduated from the Osaka Junior College of Music, Department of Instrumental Music (Piano) and is now an independent composer who has worked before for beloved video game companies Capcom and Square Enix (formerly known as Square). Shimomura’s works cover a wide range of genres, rhythmic sounds generated by computer with classic orchestral parts on a large scale, although it is particularly known for its melodious and poignant songs, as well as its intense and dramatic pieces.
The comrades previously honored for their work includes Shuhei Yoshida, Warwick Davis, Hideo Kojima, Judi Dench, Vanessa Redgrave, Martin Scorsese, Gabe Newell, Siobhan Reddy, Helen Mirren, Hideo Kojima, Tim Schafer, Shigeru Miyamoto, John Carmack Molyneux and Thelma Schoonmaker.
The price will be awarded to Shimomura at the 21st annual Bafta Games prize on Tuesday April 8 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and will be broadcast live on Bafta’s YouTube And Tic Canals. The ceremony will be organized for the second time by the actor and the enthusiast of video games Phil Wang where he will entertain an audience filled with a complete list of great industry.
