It is again at this time of year when the Consumer Electronics Show 2025 (CES 2025) is underway in Las Vegas. With thousands of products vying for attention, it should come as no surprise that some are a bit, well, strange.

So here’s our hand-picked selection of the weirdest gadgets from this year’s CES. Read on to check them out.

1. Mirumi is a little strange, that’s for sure

One of the strangest innovations spotted at this year’s CES is the gripper robot called Mirumi. Quirky and undeniably adorable, this furry little robot is designed to provide a joy similar to that of interacting with a human baby.

“Designed to recreate people’s joyful experiences when they notice a human baby trying to interact with them, Mirumi moves her head in several different ways to express curiosity, modesty, and other similar qualities and emotions to those of a baby,” explains Yukai, the company behind it.

The little robot comes with a bank of sensors and can move its eyes and head to mimic engagement with people or objects in close proximity. Although it looks impressive, its reactions are limited and generally only trigger when touched or approached.

“People often find great joy in sharing their happiness with others. Mirumi is a robot that lets you do just that. Whether you’re on a crowded train or waiting in line at the checkout, your Mirumi will always find a way to reach people’s hearts with her innocent gaze, prompting them to wave at the robot or make a funny face in response ,” explained Shunsuke Aoki, CEO of Yukai Engineering, in a statement.

2. This spoon enhances flavor by electrocuting your tongue

Another strange gadget spotted at this year’s CES is Kirin Holdings’ electronic spoon. Touted as a “flavor-enhancing” utensil, the spoon could help reduce the amount of salt you add to your food.

Kirin Holdings says the spoon uses sophisticated science to trick your tongue into “tasting” flavors like salt. This is achieved by applying a weak electrical current to whatever is in the spoon to concentrate the ion molecules.

This then tricks your tongue into thinking the food is saltier or has more umami than it actually does. Pretty neat and all yours for the low price of $127.

3. This gadget cools your coffee for you

Mirumi isn’t the only weird gadget from Yukai Engineering at this year’s CES. May we introduce you to the Nékojita FuFu cooling hot drinks cat gadget.

Small and shaped like a cat, this little gadget sits on the rim of your cup and continually “blows” on it to bring it to the perfect (or should we say “purrring”) drinking temperature.

Introduced at this year’s CES, the company describes the small cat device as a “personal dining partner.” Obviously, the inspiration came from the designer feeling out of breath after blowing on his child’s food to cool it.

The name FuFu comes from the sound someone makes when performing this action. We’ll let you decide how accurate a description should be.

4. This air purifier doubles as a cat throw

Another of the weirdest things we spotted at this year’s CES is the LG AeroCatTower. This device may become your next most important purchase if you are a cat owner.

At its core, it’s an air purifier with a feline-friendly twist as it adjusts its airflow to stay quiet while your cat relaxes. It then speeds up as the cat moves to freshen the air.

It also provides some heating for your cat while it resides on top of the device. As an added bonus, it also doubles as a smart scale, tracking your cat’s weight and health via the LG ThinQ mobile app.

We’re not really sure what to think of this one.

5. This ring combines luxury and health monitoring

If you are looking for a shiny ring that screams luxury, the Ultrahuman Rare could be your ideal partner. With a starting price of £1,500 ($1,900), it’s the most expensive smart ring to date, thanks to its high-quality construction in 18k gold and platinum.

Functionally, the Rare mirrors the capabilities of the Ultrahuman Ring Air, offering comprehensive health tracking for metrics like daily movement, heart rate, and skin temperature. Although the two models have no functional differences, future updates could add an extra edge to the Rare.

The Desert collection, comprised of three elegant designs (Desert Rose, Dune and Desert Snow), embodies the brand’s vision of blending high-tech and premium style.

6. Spicerr: The AI Spice Dispenser You Never Asked for

Another of the strangest innovations of CES 2025 is the Spice. Touted as an innovative kitchen gadget powered by artificial intelligence (AI), this item can automatically dispense or mix spices with the press of a button.

The device comes with a series of spice capsules that can be dispensed in precise quantities based on preset recipes or the accompanying mobile app. According to the developers, this setup allows the user to consistently add the same amount of herbs and spices to their dishes, maximizing consistency.

However, if we’re honest, freely adding herbs and spices to food is one of the joys of cooking for yourself. But it looks cool.

7. Need electricity on the go? Take a mighty hat

And last, but not least, meet the EcoFlow Power Hat. This portable technology is designed to provide you with solar energy on the go while keeping your head in the shade.

The device has two USB-A and USB-C ports to charge two devices simultaneously. It also offers UPF 50+ sun protection and, like most hats, protects your delicate face from UV rays.

But wait, it gets better. The hat is also IP65 waterproof and is also rated “dustproof”, whatever that means. This combination of factors makes it a must-have for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors hiking, at the beach, or fishing.

Buy yours for as little as $123.

And that is your fate for today.

These are some of the weirdest innovations and products we’ve spotted at this year’s CES. What other things, if any, seem a little strange to you?
