Kyle Walker left Manchester City and joined AC Milan on a first six -month loan, the Serie A club having the opportunity to buy it permanently this summer.
The 34-year-old man asked to leave City earlier in January with his last appearance for the club during the 4-1 home victory against West Ham at the beginning of the month.
City accepted the official Milan loan offer on Thursday. The option of purchase in summer is worth around 4.2 million pounds sterling (5 million euros), according to Sky in Italy.
Walker helped City win 17 trophies, including six premier League titles and the Champions League, since he joined the club in a 50 million Tottenham Sterling contract in 2017.
He was about to join Bayern Munich after the city’s triple victory in 2023, but signed a contract extension to keep him at the club until 2026.
Walker leaves City after having made 319 appearances for the club through the seasons of seven and a half years at the Etihad stadium, while he capitalized on the team for the fourth consecutive historical title of the Premier League from last season.
The international in England will wear the number 32 shirt to AC Milan, which is eighth in Serie A and is underway to finish in the top eight of the Champions League table with the sixth place of Sergio Conceica.
Walker: I will be forever grateful to Pep
Walker said he would be “eternally grateful” to Man City boss Pep Guardiola, who brought him to the club in 2017.
The former UTD defender of Sheffield was published on Instagram: “Manchester City… Where to start? Signing for this incredible club in 2017 was a dream come true. Seven years later, winning 17 trophies, including the Champions League and the famous trible is something that I could have dreamed of What to do.
“Play alongside so many better players pushed me to be the best version of myself, and I am really grateful for the opportunity I had in Etihad.
“A big thank you to so many people, coaches staff, men of the kit and all the behind the scenes who work relentlessly behind the scenes. You make every day pleasant and provide the platform so that we can better.
“To my teammates, from the moment I crossed the door, I felt at home. Thank you for the great memories and for all the success we shared together. You are friends, but also your family for life.
“In Pep Guardiola, thank you for believing in me and working so hard to bring me together here in 2017. Together, we celebrated 17 trophies, and your advice helped me train in the player I am today. I will be grateful.
“In Annie, our children and my whole family who were there and who supported me in this trip thank you.
“Most importantly, for fans – thank you for adopting me as one of yours from the first day. Your unwavering support, week after week, at home, will never be forgotten.
“I wish you all a constant success in the future. Thank you.”
Walker one of the most reliable in PEP – but time catches up with everyone
Sky Sports News Reporter Ben Ransom:
At the end of his first season in charge, Pep Guardiola had realized that it would take a massive overhaul of the Manchester City team to win the trophies he had been brought to deliver.
Ten regular players from the first team were shown the exit door in the summer of 2017 and a series of new talents was brought to open the way to an era of domination.
At the heart of this was the signature of Kyle Walker, who was at the time the most expensive defender in the history of English football, arriving from Tottenham for costs worth more than 50 million pounds sterling , including additional modules.
Guardiola needed more energy from his lateral rear to achieve his vision, and Walker was considered the perfect upgrade of Pablo Zabaleta, fans, who was released at the age of 32.
The eyebrows were raised at the time, but during the seven and a half years since then, Walker has reimbursed these transfer costs several times.
