The director of Espanyol Sporting, Fran Garagarza, admitted that the target of Arsenal Joan Garcia could leave this summer even if a club does not trigger his liberation clause.
After having sold the goalkeeper of the aid Aaron Ramsdale last summer, Arsenal turned on Garcia but was overthrown with an offer of 20 million euros late in the window, finally triggering a loan move to Neto de Bournemouth instead.
While the loan of Neto expiring in summer, Arsenal should rekindle their interest in Garcia this summer. The 23 -year contract includes a liberation clause of 25 million euros (20.7 million pounds sterling) which increases to 30 million euros (24.8 million pounds sterling) in the last 15 days of the window transfer.
When asked if Espanyol would only allow Garcia’s sale if a club triggered his release clause, Gangarza admitted that he was happy to listen to reasonable offers as long as they arrive earlier in the window that Arsenal’s summer approach.
“Is it a clause or nothing? No,” said Garagarza Pericos Marca. “In the summer window, with an Arsenal call last week, it must be that [clause].
“But if you get an offer on June 14 which is not the clause but which is close in fixed and variable quantities, the espanyol will not say no. We cannot say no. If a club comes with 8 million euros for Joan Garcia is a bad sale, 100%. But the important thing is what we would do with this money.
Garcia recognized that an Espanyol summer departure would be the best for everyone. The goalkeeper wishes to go to the next stage of his career and bring significant costs to help his current employers, who are at one point above the relegation zone.
