Washington, DC, the member of the municipal council Tlayon White faces a potential expulsion of the city management in the midst of an in progress trial for alleged corruption accusations.
The FBI arrested White in August 2024, alleging that it had taken more than $ 150,000 in bribes to influence city contracts. While the trial has not yet started, the FBI has revealed elements of evidence showing accepting white envelopes full of money from an office informant. The municipal council will vote on the expulsion of White later Tuesday.
“This is the corruption par excellence,” said Council Chairman Phil Mendelson in a December press release. “There is only one remedy: to remove the corruption of our body. This incident has damaged the trust of the public necessary for the government to work well.”
Despite the accusations and evidence against him, White was re -elected to the municipal council in November, just three months after his arrest. His federal trial should start in January 2026. He pleaded not guilty.

White’s expulsion would require a unanimous vote of the 11 other members of the municipal council, and the public declarations of the members of the Council do not seem good for the whites.

“The member of the Council White betrayed the confidence of his staff, the council, the agencies and, above all, residents of the district 8,” said the member of the Kenyan McDuffie Council, a Democrat, during a preliminary hearing the week last.
Mendelson, also a democrat, echoed McDuffie’s skepticism in a press release.
“The public [has to] Being confidence in the government, they must have confidence in the legislative assembly, they must have confidence in those who are elected, “he said.
