South Africa will be confronted with Afghanistan in its first match of the ICC 2025 Champions Trophy. This will be the third game of the tournament and should be played on Friday, February 21 at the Karachi National Stadium.
After losing the two games in the Odi tri-series against New Zealand and Pakistan, South Africa recorded a very necessary victory in its only warm-up match. South Africa was without most of their first team players for the tri-series, but still managed to display more than 300 totals and will try to make the next match.

Captain Temba Bavuma and Tony de Zorzi should be the openers in South Africa playing 11 for the next match against Afghanistan. During the warm -up match, Tony de Zorzi opened the sleeves with Ryan Rickelton while Bavuma beat in number four.
However, Bavuma had opened the sleeves during the ODI tri-series earlier this month and is expected to return to his usual position in the next match. Bavuma has been in good touch lately and will try to score big because he will be eager to lead his team forward.
