The United States launched a wave of air strikes against Houthi rebels on Saturday in Yemen on Saturday, while Donald Trump warned that “hell will cry” the group supported by Iran if they continue to attack the expedition to the Red Sea.
The American president also warned Iran to stop his support for the “immediately” militant group.
The attacks occurred a few days after the Houthis, which control most of northern Yemen, threatened to resume attacks against the expedition to the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
“Today, I ordered the American army to launch a decisive and powerful military action against Houthi terrorists in Yemen,” Trump said in an article on Truth Social. “They carried out a relentless campaign of hacking, violence and terrorism against American ships and other ships, planes and drones.”
The Houthis launched dozens of attacks on merchant ships and the American navy ships in the Red Sea last year, saying that they were in solidarity with the Palestinians while Israel produced its fierce offensive against Hamas in Gaza.
Associations have seriously disrupted traffic on one of the most important maritime trade routes in the world and continued despite the air strikes in the United States, the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom and Houthi military targets in Yemen.
The Houthis interrupted their campaign after Israel and Hamas agreed with a fragile ceasefire in January under which Palestinian activists agreed to release hostages seized during their assault on October 7, 2023 against the Jewish State.
But the Houthis warned this week that they would resume their attacks against shipping after Israel blocked the delivery of all the assistance to Gaza in order to put pressure on Hamas to accept a revised proposal for the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
American air strikes targeted the leaders, bases and missile defenses on Houthis on Saturday, Trump said.
“The Houthi attack on American ships will not be tolerated,” said Trump. “We will use an overwhelming lethal force until we reach our goal.”
“For all Houthi terrorists, your time has passed and your attacks must stop, from today. If they don’t do it, hell will rain on you like nothing you’ve ever seen before! “Added Trump.
Trump on Saturday also warned Tehran of not supporting the Yemeni rebels, which are among the militants supported by Iran who make up the so-called “resistance axis”.
The United States and Israel accuse Iran of providing Houthis with increasingly sophisticated drone and missile technologies, as well as intelligence.
“In Iran: support for Houthi terrorists must end immediately!” He said.
“Do not threaten the American people, their president, who received one of the greatest mandates in presidential history or world shipping routes. If you do it, beware, because America will keep you fully responsible and we will not be nice about it! »»
Trump repimologizes his “maximum pressure” campaign against the Republic. During his first mandate, Trump withdrew the United States from the 2015 nuclear agreement that Tehran signed with global powers and imposed hundreds of sanctions on the Republic.
He announced more sanctions against Tehran since his return to the White House, while saying that he wanted to negotiate with Iran on his nuclear program. But he also maintained the threat of military action.
Its administration has also appointed the Houthis a foreign terrorist organization as it seeks to intensify pressure on the Yemeni rebellious group.
The Ministry of Health managed by the Houthis said that at least nine civilians had been killed and nine injured in the United States in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen.
The Houthis checked Sanaa and most of the North for a decade for oust the Yemeni government when the Arabic Arab State has come down to the civil war.
The conflict attracted Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which led an Arab coalition which intervened to fight the Houthis in March 2015.
The strikes on Saturday were the most important military actions taken by Trump since his return to the White House.
“The conflict between Houthis in Yemen and the United States of America has reached a new level of intensity, US air strikes this evening marking a significant change,” said Mohammed Al-Basha, founder of Basha Report, an American council.
“From now on, they are gloves between the Houthis and Centcom,” he added, referring to the American military command.
The Yemen Embassy in Washington and Iran’s mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
