Overview of the match for Bayer Leverkusen against Bochum
Bayer Leverkusen knows that there can be no slides when they try to chase Bayern Munich and defend their Bundesliga crown.
The men of Xabi Alonso were not up to Bayern in their draw of the Champions League, the Bavarians won 5-0 on two legs, but their league shape was very consistent.
Indeed, their only defeat since September came in their last home game when Werder Bremen was surprising 2-0 winners in La Bayarena. This setback provided an impressive response, however, with Leverkusen winning 4-3 in Stuttgart despite the fact that he was 3-1 with half an hour.
This kind of return characterized their winning campaign of the title and it should invigorate the team during the remaining eight games as they seek to fill the difference of six points in Bayern.

Alonso will however be aware of Bochum’s ability to shock.
The Dieter Hecking team won only two of his last nine championship games, but these were two notable victories – at home in Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
They currently occupy 16th place, which, if they remain there, means that they would participate in the relegation qualifiers.
Stay standing has an additional meaning for Hecking with Bochum announcing this morning that the survival of Bundesliga would see him handed over a new two -year contract.
“Bochum is an excellent club, I mentioned it several times and I see it confirmed every day,” he said. “We are on the right track, but not yet at our destination. Currently, my goal is to stand up. This scenario is the only one who I am currently facing, we are all working together for this goal in the club – the team, the coaches and the staff, the employees, of course also the fans. And I firmly believe that we can do it. ”
Team news for Bayer Leverkusen against Bochum
Leverkusen is likely to be without Nathan Tella and Edmond Tapsoba.
The winger Tella can be back for the DFB-Pokal semi-final against Arminia Bielefeld, but the half-center of Tapsoba is fighting to be in good shape for the next weekend match against Heidenheim.
Bochum has a major doubt around defender Bernardo. He missed last week’s defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt by suspension, but is now struggling with a problem worried about the knee.
Hecking told Waz: “Unfortunately, Bernardo has knee problems, which makes us a little worried.
“He had Achilles tendon problems and now he has knee problems. It will be tight for Friday. There is a good chance that he does not play.”
The key striker Myron Boadu should start after proving his physical form with a goal in last week’s friendly match with Preussen Munster.
