Who would have thought that Matt “Daredevil” Murdock (Charlie Cox) would team up with Yusuf Khan (Mohan Kapur), Kamala’s father “Mme Marvel” Khan (Iman Vellani) – Not to mention a dangerous bank flight with the guy? Surprise or not, that’s exactly what is happening in “Daredevil: Born Again” season 1, episode 5. It all starts when we see Matt face an enemy, neither the lawyers nor the superheroes can easily defeat: an official of the Insmpymathyae bank. Well, “antipathetic” in the sense that it is reluctant to offer a loan to Matt, which seems to be normal for the course for heroes of the Marvel cinematic universe. After all, if Sam “World Saving Avenger and Future Captain America” Wilson (Anthony Mackie) himself had a hard time getting a sales loan on “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, what chance would have a simple basic lawyer of Hell’s Kitchen?
Fortunately, said Banker – who, of course, is Yusuf – turns out to be a perfectly decent human being, and he and Matt immediately hit him. This is useful when the situation moves to the one that Matt is much more capable of managing: a bank theft that turns into a hostage situation with high issues. While Matt infiltrates the ranks of the hostages and begins to make movements, the yusuf in gentle ways is an integral part of the episode in its own right. This incredibly improbable boyfriend team turns out to be simply delicious. In addition, this may not be the last meeting between Mr. Murdock and the Khan family members: when Yusuf invites Matt to a dinner in his family home in New Jersey, he organizes a future possible meeting between Daredevil and Mrs. Marvel.
The episode teases several exciting MCU developments
The Marvel cinematographic universe never waste a chance to create future scenarios, and indeed, the appearance of the guests of Yusuf Khan lays the foundations for several potential developments. During the events of the episode, Yusuf, which previously appeared on “Mrs. Marvel” (2022) and in “The Marvels” (2023), reveals that Kamala Khan is currently in Los Angeles “on friends”. In all likelihood, this alludes to the affiliation of the comic strip of the young superhero with the champions of the drop in avengers based in the west coast … also known as Young Avengers.
The Young Avengers team live from Marvel live is roughly obvious, and the MCU has already introduced several future young Avengers. From Kate “Hawkeye” Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) to Cassie “Stature” Lang (Kathryn Newton) and Billy “Wiccan” Maximoff (Joe Locke), the new generation of the live heroes of Marvel is indeed on the way. Given that Ms. Marvel is the group leader in comics, the revelation she drags in Los Angeles with certain knowledge seems to be a configuration that will get a massive gain for a long time.
As for the invitation of the dinner which could bring together Daredevil and the much lighter Ms. Marvel, if this really happens at a given time, remains to be seen. On paper, the idea seems strange, because the two characters do not have a lot of history with each other in the comics. However, this particular team could be well explored. After all, while he is himself a fairly serious character, the comic version of Daredevil was known to team up with wise characters like Spider-Man-and as his scenes prove with Yusuf, the McUdock of MCU also has an energy that can work very well with more bloody characters.
