Liverpool’s goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili warned Alisson and the rest of his teammates whom he intended to become the goalkeeper of the first choice of the club after his arrival in Anfield in summer.
During a transfers window surprisingly little, Liverpool’s biggest expenses were the acquisition of 29 million pounds of Mamardashvili Sterling. Part of the agreement saw the stopper of 24 years immediately loaned to Valence for the entire 2024/25 campaign before joining the Reds in June.
Alisson is the goalkeeper of the first choice of Liverpool since his arrival in 2018 – a fixed hierarchy which exasperated Caoimhin Kelleher. While the promising Irish goalkeeper should move forward this summer, Mamardashvili is looking forward to his career on the Merseyside.

“I will go there to train for my best and I do not know what they will decide afterwards. I do not decide who plays and who does not do it.”
While Mamardashvili redeeled from the novelty to provide his first international help in the middle of the week, there was not much to smile at the club. As number one for a relegation against Valencia, the imposing Georgian faces a wave of shooting at each match, but he has always conceded between four and five more goals than expected according to the quality and quantity of these efforts.
Mamardashvili also has the second percentage of backup of any Liga goalkeeper, repelling only 61% of the target shots. For comparison, Alisson has never dropped below 72% throughout his career in European football.
The Brazilian Supremo of Liverpool is 33 years old at the start of next season, but has shown some signs of decline. Freshly out of a record performance against Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month, Arne Slot naturally praised Alisson as “the best in the world”.
The injuries could however offer Mamardashvili an avenue in the departure XI. Alisson sat nine weeks this season with a recurring problem with the hamstrings and is currently recovering from a prior head trauma suffered during his international functions in Brazil this week.
