Jason Stevens is used to treating travel headache.
As CEO of Wayfaire tripWho plans a six -digit luxury holidays and trips to the CEO of fortune 500 and ultra -rich customers, he helped customers solve problems – from the search for last minute access to luxury ski places to bring travelers to their African safari after accidentally embarked bad flight.
Stevens himself is a experienced traveler, having been on the seven continents and “most of the big cities”. His experience helps, as well as his team, to make sure that their customers have the best trip that money can buy.
And although the average cost of a Wayfaire travel holidays is more than $ 30,000 – with some vacation packages that are accompanied by more than $ 200,000 – Stevens says that you don’t need to be a high power CEO to have a good holiday.
Instead, he says there are three “common sense” things that anyone can do to make sure their next vacation is as good as possible.
1. Wait for your luggage
Packing a day or two additional clothes in your hand luggage can save you a lot of hassle when they treat with lost luggage.

Few things can derail a vacation as if your luggage is not on the carousel when you arrive at your destination. For peace of mind, Stevens throws a tracker, like an aerial apple, in his checkered bag before embarking on a trip.
“I often transfer to long-haul flights,” he told CNBC. “I like to know that [my bag] Make the first step, then I can see it be loaded on the plane for the second step. “”
In the event that your bag is lost in the shuffle, having a locator can help the employees of airlines to find it. Stevens gave the example of one of his friends whose bag has never made its connection to Istanbul to theft to Bangkok. By telling the workers of the airlines where to look, he was able to obtain his property faster.
“If you don’t have this level of visibility, they will simply enter the standard process,” he said. “But if you have visibility, they use a different process. You actually get a higher level of service for recovery of your luggage.”
And whatever happens, Stevens recommends one day or two clothing in your hand luggage.
“”[Your missing bag] Can come a day later or sometimes two days later, if it is not lost, “he says.” Travel with basic amenities and a change of clothes. “”
2. Be smart about how you spend

Before making an international trip, do your homework to find out if your destination takes or not American dollars.
“You would be surprised to see how many countries still accept US dollars with a big smile on their faces,” he said.
But keep in mind that it is not because a country accepts that your dollars can provide changes. Do not expect a taxi driver to Bangkok to give you a change for an invoice of $ 50 or $ 100 on a $ 8 trip from the airport. If you plan not to use a local currency, bring small confessions to make your life easier.
Even better, he said, has set up a multi-money card, like WiseBefore leaving so that you can pay everything without worrying about exchange rates or transaction costs.
“The minute you left your house and went to an international country [with a multi-currency card]You have saved money immediately, “he said.
3. Descend the beaten track

To make the most of it for your money, do not stay in the city center when you visit somewhere like New York or Santiago or Lima. Zoom in on the card and take a look at the hotels a little further.
“If you get out of a big city – and you don’t have to go too far – the quality of the hotel does not drop, but the hotel prices drop disproportionately,” said Stevens.
When he goes to a large metropolitan region with good public transport, he will look at hotels further from agitation as a way to save money and live “a different rhythm of life”.
He recommends using Google Street View to check the surroundings of the hotels you look at. And if you still don’t know what an area looks like, just pick up the phone and call the hotel that you are considering a call.
“There were several times when I just called a hotel and I said:” Hey, look, I never stayed there. What does the region look like? “He said.” The hotel office will tell you much more than people think. ”
