Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz said David Benavidez would fight for the full title of WBC light heavyweights in September, perhaps against Callum Smith, after the belt is canceled or stripped of the current Champion Dmitry Bivo.

Lewkowicz said he wanted Bivol to win the WBC title and returned on Monday because he will not defend him against Benavidez. It will not be at stake when Bivol will face Artur Beterbiev in their trilogy match.
The WBC has already ordered Bivol to start negotiating with the compulsory WBC Benavidez (30-0, 24 KB), and they have until April 8 to conclude an agreement before a bag offer. However, Lewkowicz does not see this happening because of the Bivol-Beterbiev trilogy match which is in the planning stages.
There is no chance This bivol will first take the risk of fighting “the Mexican monster” Benavidez because it would probably lose and would be without a belt for the trilogy match against Artur Beterbiev. The fight would always arouse interest in fans, but much less because of the release of Bivol de Benavidez and not to have titles.

American boxing fans are tired of seeing Bivol and Beterbiev fight because none of their two fights has been entertaining. According to American standards, their fights were boring. People outside the country can like tactical battles that look like amateur competitions, but we, fans, don’t like this style.
