The host of “Real Time” Bill Maher praised the “change” of the Democratic Governor of California Gavin Newsom, who made the headlines this week for denouncing biological men in competition in female sports.
On his new podcast “It’s Gavin Newsom,” Newsom has found common ground with the founder of Turning Point USA and Firebrand Conservative Charlie Kirk on the subject of Trans athletes.
“The young man who is about to win the state championship during the long jump in female sports, that should not happen,” said Kirk. “You, as governor, should go out and say no. Would you do something like that? Wouldn’t you say men in female sports?”
“Well, I think it’s a problem of equity,” said Newsom. “I fully agree with you on this subject. It is deeply unfair.”

Maher welcomed Newsom’s pivot on the hot button issue.

Maher complained about how President Trump is perceived as the candidate for “common sense”, then exploded the Democrats in the Senate, who earlier in the week blocked a vote on a bill that would prohibit biological men from competing with women’s sports despite the fact that “80% of people” promote the position.

Maher was amused to read in a politico report that Newsom’s podcast was inspired by HBO host.
