Kepa Arrizabalaga, a rumor transfer Target of Real Madrid, confirmed that he will keep interviews with Chelsea during his long -term future in the coming weeks.
The 30 -year -old has become the most expensive goalkeeper in the world when he joined the Blues for 71 million pounds sterling in 2018, but several disappointing years finally saw him lose his place as a starter. Kepa joined Real Madrid on loan last season to help cover an injury to Thibaut Courtois, but invigorated his career in a temporary spell with Bournemouth this year.
Bournemouth is eager to permanently sign Kepa this summer – their agreement does not include such an agreement with Chelsea – but it has been reported that Madrid also looks at him if they lose the current deputy Andriy Lunin.
Leaving on his future after the 2-2 draw from Bournemouth with West Ham United on the weekend, Kepa insisted that he did not know what his next move will be but did not hesitate to admit his happiness with life to Vitality Stadium.
“Obviously, what I can say is that I am really happy and that I appreciate my playing time here,” he said. “I think I show it and I feel good on the ground.
“It’s not time to think about the future, we are going to make the decision, we are in contact with everyone and now I am under contract with Chelsea. We have conversations to have, they will perform in the coming weeks, then we will decide.”
Kepa will only be 12 months on his contract on his return to Chelsea this summer. Blues have long been desperate to reduce links with the plug, even if they have to accept a small gain to convince him to give up part of his salary, and failed to convince him to move to Saudi Arabia last year.
Chelsea has several goalkeepers who are fighting for a role next season. Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen are the two senior options currently in the Enzo Maresca team, but Djordje Petrovic could recover a place after an impressive loan spell with Sister Side Strasbourg. Mike Penders, very classified, 19, should also join Genk in an agreement worth 17 million pounds sterling.
