Ronnie O’Sullivan plans how her career could end
Ronnie O’Sullivan says he is not ready to leave the snooker, but doubt that he can rediscover a sufficient shape to “go out with a smile on my face”.
The seven times world champion, 49, has not played on the World Snooker Tour since January and has not yet decided to compete in this year’s world championship, which begins on April 19.
O’Sullivan, currently the world’s number five, fell in love with sport and after fighting for the form, he retired from five of the last six WST tournaments on medical grounds.
He said to Daily mail: “I don’t stop yet, but I’m going to give myself two years to try to understand it.
“I don’t want to end my career by feeling as if I didn’t really play at the level I know.
“I don’t have to win tournaments, but I just want to have the feeling of enjoying the game. I would like to go out with a smile on my face.”

He continued: “I have to try to repair myself and just try to find out how I played snooker. It is a process of massive reconstruction and probably the last one that I should never do as a snooker player.
“Can I think I can do it?” Probably not if I’m honest.
“I think it’s probably a little too late in my career and I am probably damaged the goods in the form of a snooker player. You take many fighting scars over the years. But I am not ready to stop at this stage because I have the impression that I would leave a little low.”
O’Sullivan, widely considered the biggest snooler player, won the world championship for the last time in 2022 when he became the oldest winner of the world crown.
He won a record of 23 triple crown titles, including eight masters titles and eight British championship titles.
