Rory McILroy and Shane Lowry go around the weekend still six shots from the head of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans team after an expensive arrival in their second round initially promising.
The reigning champions ended their turn in the Day Two Foursomes format with consecutive bogeys to deposit them in a nine equality for 16th place after having recorded a round of three under 69 around TPC Louisiana.
The pair had been six under 12 holes and only two head shots, with the point culminating again an Eagle three in the second match for the second successive day.
However, there were three of them for the six fence holes with a bogey in the 13th per four, followed by two others in the 17th and 18th per-five.
The American duo Isaiah Salinda and Kevin Velo continue to show the way, although they also fired 69 Friday a day after their superb 14-mine of 58 in the Fourball.
Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin are on 16 sous after a second round 66, with Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaar from Denmark, two after following their opening 59 with a 70.
The English duo David Skinns and Ben Taylor are tied fifth after a second round 67.
But Collin Morikawa and his game partner Kurt Kitayama failed to cut after pulling three against 75, missing the security brand 10 sous of two shots.
’11 under the worst score that we could have had ‘
For McILroy and Lowry, there was also a disappointment at the end of the day but also of the optimism that they played quite well to make their way in the line by the second other shot on Sunday.
“It is difficult not to think [that] We were six under 12 years of age, as a cruise, then a bit of a bad finish, “said McILroy, who has played masters for the first time since his historic triumph.
“But that didn’t feel like playing so bad to have the end of us. [Saturday] It will be difficult to be patient because the Fourball format you only have to try to do as much birdies as possible.
“We know that we are really good in the foursomes format, we have shown that most of them for the most part, so if we can return in the running to a few heads before Sunday, we feel like we are in good position.”
Lowry added: “We are obviously disappointed. I have the impression that 11 Under is the worst score that we can be two days right now with our arrival yesterday and today.
“But I have the impression that we can go low [on Saturday] And enter in the 1920s under the peer and leave after Sunday. As we have shown today, Foursomes is our thing and we can make ground in the field. “”
Other eagles such as their permanent size of 562 second yards would certainly help this quest.
After McILroy had left it perfectly in the middle of the Fairway off the coast of the tee, Lowry struck a sensational approach of 242 yards in the back of the green, before the new Masters champion plays his role again by flowing the 11 -foot putt.
“I have fun playing from around 340 [yards] In the middle of each fairway! “Luwry loves in the blink of an eye to the prowess of her teammate outside the tee.
