Why not spoil your furry friend—and save some bones while you’re at it too—with our favorite Amazon Pet Day deals. In the great tradition of Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Amazon Prime Day, Amazon has expanded these savings extravaganzas to the pet tech sphere.

As the pet tech writer here at WIRED, I have strong opinions about which (often pricey) pet gear is worth your hard-earned dough. From automatic litter boxes to feeders and fountains, and even DNA testing kits and pet cameras, I’ve pulled together here the best deals I’ve seen so far on WIRED-tested gear for Amazon Pet Day, which runs May 13–14.

Alongside these great deals, find more essential pet tech in our other guides, like the Best Automatic Feeders, Best Automatic Litter Boxes, Best Pet Fountains, Best Cat Toys, and Best Dog Accessories.

Automatic Litter Box Deals

I’ve tested so many models of automatic litter boxes, and the Litter-Robot 4 is still my favorite. Like many other models, it separates dirty litter using grates, dispensing clumps in the concealed bag below, returning clean litter back to the drum. Sensors detect and weigh the cat, and the box connects to Wi-Fi so you can track usage and program the box via Litter-Robot’s Whisker app. Through the app, you can monitor litter and waste levels, cats’ recorded weight, and usage throughout the day and historically. This is an expensive upgrade, but this complete bundle has all of the essentials you’ll need, like a mat, an odor trap, and waste bags.

The Petkit PuraMax 2 is what I recommend for most people. It’s a more affordable price point (especially at $150 off), easy to use, compact, and actually smells great. It cleans via vertical rotation, using a grate system to separate the waste from the clean litter, and best of all, when it’s time to refill with clean litter, the box rotates so the hole is on top for easier filling. This box has triple odor control, a sealed waste bin, an odor eliminator attachment that sits in the waste bin, and a citrusy deodorizing spray that goes off after every cleaning and randomly throughout the day to ensure the litter box stays fresh. When the cat enters the box, their weight is displayed on the front, and the app logs every time it was used and for how long, when the cleaning cycle begins, ends, and when the deodorizing spray was emitted.

This automatic litter box (8/10 WIRED Recommends) uses a camera and AI technology to monitor litter box usage, and actually lets you see your cat’s stool to help more closely monitor their health. It has a camera on an arm in front of the opening, which swivels and follows your cat when it senses motion and records inside the litter box (it also has night vision). It has auto-bagging and -sealing features, so you never have to deal with the stool. The app logs and monitors usage, including the number of times used and the average duration. The automatic litter box with a camera has 180-degree viewing, two-way audio, and 24/7 streaming, and uses AI to identify which cat used the box. This pricey upgrade is made a little more accessible for $200 off, the biggest discount on this model I’ve seen so far this year.

This automatic litter box is around half the price but has a similar design to more expensive models. This futuristic-looking pod on legs has a rubbery bottom for litter, a weight detector that sets off the cleaning cycle a few minutes after your cat has done its business, and a slide-out tray in the bottom. You can connect it to Wi-Fi and review your cat’s toilet visits in the app on your phone, where each entry displays the time they went, their weight, and toilet trip duration. At $360 right now, it’s one of the lowest prices we’ve seen this year.

If you don’t want to spend the big bucks on a more high-tech automatic litter box, this smart litter box system sits under your existing litter box. It identifies any changes in usage that may indicate health problems like a UTI, kidney disease, and more. The app logs usage and alerts you to usage changes, and uses AI to develop a profile for each cat so you know who’s using it and when. At less than $100, it costs a fraction of what you’d pay for other litter boxes, and it can help you know if and when problems begin.

Food and Water Deals

The Petlibro Polar Wet Food Feeder solves pretty much every gripe I had with other automatic feeders aimed at storing wet food—it’s essentially a mini-fridge guaranteed to keep food fresh, and it’s connected to an app where you can schedule and customize feedings while a log tells you how long a cat was at the bowl and when the feeding time finished. The refrigeration uses thermoelectric cooling and stays at 50 degrees Fahrenheit or below, and cooling is paused 30 minutes before scheduled feeding time to make sure it’s at an ideal temperature when feeding begins. At $110, I’d highly recommend this for any cat owner who wants a little extra peace of mind while they’re away—or if you don’t want to get screamed at in the wee early morning hours for wet food.

Note: Despite having a 4.2/5 rating on Amazon, this feeder is marked as a “Frequently Returned Item.” I haven’t experienced any issues with reliability or performance, and it’s worked well for the past six-plus months of testing.

This has been my top pick for automatic feeders because it’s (comparatively) affordable, reliable, tech-savvy, and highly customizable. It’s controlled via an app and dispenses food from its 5-liter capacity based on the feeding schedule you create. It has a 1080p HD camera with night vision so you can watch and hear your pet eat even when far away, and you can communicate with them via speaker. Through the Petlibro app (for Android and iOs), you set up a feeding schedule (up to six meals a day) or feed snacks with your desired amount, and it has extremely customizable feeding plans with meals that you label individually. Because of the camera feature, it essentially doubles as a pet camera, and I love that I can monitor my cats (and their food levels) while I’m away.

For this feeder, the pet wears a collar with a tag—the feeder’s lid opens only with that tag. There’s a cover that retracts automatically when the pet with the collar approaches the stainless steel food bowl, and everything can be controlled and monitored through the app. I think this is a nearly perfect device for a particular kind of pet owner. I think it works best for a cat in a dog home where the owner doesn’t want the dog getting into the cat’s food, if each pet in the home has a One RFID feeder, if one particular cat has special dietary needs, or if you have a multi-cat home with an aggressive eater. In these cases, I truly think this product would be a life-changer.

I absolutely love this affordable automatic feeder—made even more affordable with this discount at less than 100 bucks. It has a scale in the bottom of the stainless steel bowl, which makes sure your pet is getting the exact right amount of food. It’ll even alter how much it dispenses based on how much is left in the bowl, ensuring your pet isn’t overeating. From the app, you can schedule and alter feedings with an optional meal call recording, and it logs when and how much your pet has eaten. This feeder has been super helpful to better track and understand my cats’ eating habits.

I think the Petlibro fountain is the best automatic cat fountain for most people. Both this and the original Dockstream fountain ($63) are essentially the same, except the cordless model sits on a charging dock and can be moved around the house. The fountains have a low-water detection system, meaning that the fountains will automatically stop if water levels get too low, and they are connected to an app that records when your cat drank from it, how much they drank, and for how long. It also sends alerts of low water levels, when to change the filter, and when to clean. Both models have been solid over the months I’ve used them, and at nearly half off, now is a good time to buy.

The RFID Smart Fountain uses a collar tag to monitor which cat is drinking and for how long, so you can compare and track health data. The Petlibro app alerts you when your pet’s consumption is down or up, and you can set hydration goals, which the app will let you know have been met or not. This fountain is nearly identical in design to Petlibro’s Dockstream Fountain but has a small hood to better track each pet. This fountain would be especially useful for pet parents of elderly male cats or those who have had health issues or UTIs to more easily monitor and track changes. At less than $100, this is a great deal and costs a lot less than a trip to the vet.

These mats are a lifesaver, especially for dog owners or any pets who are messy eaters. Whether it’s spilled water or crumbles of kibble, this mat catches any debris for easy cleanup, and the grippy silicone helps food bowls stay in place to prevent spilling. Normally $20, it’s a little pricey for a food mat, but this sale makes it affordable.

Pet Camera Deals

This is my favorite Pet Camera I’ve tested. It uses pan rotation for a 360-degree viewing angle, a crystal clear, 2K HD live videofeed, and intelligent infrared night vision. Through the app, you can pan the camera, take photos and record video, talk and listen to your pet through the microphone, schedule repeated regular feedings, or toss them a snack. This camera has motion, bark, and voice detection, and AI auto tracking—meaning when something out of the norm is detected, the app sends you a notification. The Amazon Pet Day deal slashes the price, and our special discount code WIREDMOLLY saves you $74. This is probably the lowest price we’ll ever see.

Both the dog and cat version ($149) of this treat-dispensing camera have been a top pick in our pet cam guide for years. It has a clear 1080p and color night vision camera, two-way communication, noise notifications, 360-degree pan abilities, and treat dispensing. It also has Auto Tracking, which follows your pet to make it easier to find them without having to search your phone screen. The video clips are stored in the cloud so you can review the footage at any time. At nearly $50 off for both models, this is a great time to invest in peace of mind.

At an already super-affordable price, this camera has 360 PTZ rotation capabilities, 1080p HD resolution, 8X digital zoom, 2-way audio, night vision—all the bells and whistles for under $40. The camera rotates pretty smoothly, and with the wide fish-eye-like lens and panning abilities, I was able to clearly see more of the room than I thought possible. Plus, with the new privacy mode, you can easily turn off the camera lens for more security.

This simple, compact camera from Petcube doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but it’s a seriously great price at less than $30 for being a reliable, basic pet camera. Like others in Petcube’s lineup, it has a 1080p HD camera, night vision, and two-way audio. It sits on hinges and can angle upward and downward. Like other Petcube cameras, you need the brand’s subscription Care plan to get any features beyond live feed, but it’s a solid, basic cam for super cheap.

DNA Testing Kit Deals

I have a fluffy, beautiful (but dumb) cat named Clover whom I’ve long suspected has some Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest cat in her. I’ve started testing and am now (eagerly) awaiting the results to see how exactly this purrfect kitty came to be. Testing was easy—all you have to do is register your kit online, swab the cat’s mouth with a Q-tip-like instrument, seal it back up, and send it back to the lab in the package, and wait a few weeks for results. It tests for 64 genetic health markers and screens for key dental conditions and analyzes DNA across more than 21 breed types and 4 breed regions. Plus, the report evolves as new research becomes available, so you can always keep an eye on your pet’s ever-changing health. I’ve been wanting to spring for this for a while now, but it’s a little pricey—now $60 off, it’s a great time to buy.

This DNA test from Basepaws uses the same methodology as above but focuses on dogs. You’ll just need to swab Fido’s mouth, send back results, and wait. It’s more comprehensive than the cat test; Basepaws claims it provides more health markers than any other dog DNA test on the market. The tests have health screenings for over 280 genetic markers, trait insights from over 30 physical markers, and a living report with ongoing updates to any health changes. Now under $100, this is a more affordable way to get health insights than a costly trip to the vet.

I swiped my cat, sent the sample back, and got the results delivered straight to my inbox in just a few weeks. With this kit, your cat is compared against over 70 breeds and tested against 45 genetic health tests. Get insights as to their physical features with over 25 trait tests, and blood type identification in case of emergency. Getting insight into my cats’ genetic makeup and blood type was not only interesting but can help me if there’s ever an emergency.

Like other DNA tests, Wisdom Panel uses an at-home swab kit where you ship the kit to a lab, where they test and give results online in a few weeks. Wisdom Panel tests for over 265 genetic health conditions, screens for over 365 breeds for an accurate breed report, screens for 51 traits to better understand your dog’s appearance, and meet their relatives, where you can see photos, compare DNA results, and send messages. There’s also the Essential for $90 ($15 off) testing kit, also now on sale.

Pet Hygiene Deals

This nifty device is universally beloved among all pet-owning WIRED reviewers. This simple tool makes it easy to de-fur virtually any surface. We use them every single day. It’s efficient, doesn’t fill up too quickly, and emptying it takes just seconds.

I freakin’ love this thing. It’s a total game changer when it comes to getting fur off fabric. It’s light and compact, with a special-edged head that miraculously scrapes up fur, hair, and dust, and it’s become my go-to. Although it doesn’t work as great on soft or low-piled fabrics like on clothing or couches, it works wonders getting up fur that I thought would be embedded in my high-piled carpet and cat trees fur-ever.

My cat Basil was found at about 8 weeks old near an abandoned house, without a mom or littermates. Because of this, he didn’t get proper cleaning, especially in his waxy ears. My vet recommended that I continue to clean them regularly throughout his life, and slipping these wipes over my finger is a lot more convenient (and safe) than trying to shove a solution-soaked cotton pad into his ear. If your pet suffers from wax buildup or ear irritation, these wipes are worth a try.

I have a sneaking suspicion my cat Clover suffers from allergies—she is a goopy girl. Rather than stick my finger near her sensitive eyes, I’ve switched to using these to wipe away any eye boogers or debris, which seems a lot more hygienic and safe. I’ve also been recommending these to my friends’ smaller dogs, whom I lovingly refer to as “crusty.”
